Dear rkr1958,

Many thanks for the advice, which was much appreciated: all is now well.

A great mod: my sincere thanks to all who played a part in its creation. :D

Best wishes.

Foolish Question

I have dowloaded and installed the v1.06 but when I click on the GS desktop shortcut (or enter via the longer route) it takes me into the standard CEAW v1.12 game. I had previously deleted GS v1.02 (I had not applied any of the mini-patches) to prepare for the v1.06 installation but retained my orig...

Dear Stauffenberg, Thanks for the suggestions. I was interested to see if that little paper boat would float upon any interest. Personally, I shall leave it as it is, as I endeavour to avoid specific tinkering with PC programmes. Methinks that my declining eyesight (&/or brain matter) automatic...

:?: Am I correct in assuming that bomb damage cannot reduce the 10 'steps' of city/resource hex below 0?

Also, do any units present in a Strat-bombed hex ever suffer any damage, either via efficiency degredation or a SP loss?

Kind regards.

You all deserve more retail sales and royalties! :D

:?: On the general topic of the GS map, is there any desire for further 'tidying up' {dons tin hat} of the map by reducing the amount of superfluous text thereupon? E.g. If 'Rail Cap [2]' was reduced to 'RC [2]' it would perhaps appear slightly cleaner and would not vie for the same amount of attent...

FWIIW I completely agree with rkr1958. :) The game v. AI is best used for learning the basics of movement, combat, ZoCs, etc, etc. It can also be useful to test out a theory along the lines of "I wonder what happens if I do this ...". However, you should think thrice before employing any ...

In terms of the GS manual, it's scope was only to document those things that were changed from the standard (or vanilla) game and how leaders work was not changed in GS. True but ... Whilst I fully appreciate the original intention and scope of the GS manual, perhaps this aspect is sufficiently imp...

I must agree that a full game of CEAW-GS ... does not take overly long. If playing solo (although PBEM is far, far better), you can rattle through a game in a similar amount of hours to most commercial games (of whatever genre) but there will be exceptions at both ends of the spectrum. If playing P...

:?: Potentially stupid query alert! I noted from an earlier posting by rkr1958 that a leadership rating of 6 will eventually increase appropriate units by 12 points. I was surprised by this, as I have not hitherto detected in either the original CEAW manual nor the GS manual that the leadership eff...

:?: Are RPs lost proportional to inflicted step damage or at specific 'break points' (e.g. 25%, 50%, etc)?
E.g. If a 5RP hex receives 2 steps of damage, is the RPs produced reduced -1?

Kind regards.

As we should be: it is easy to forget amidst the GS mod excitement, that Slitherine is still a business operation. Slitherine has allowed a very generous degree of FoC latitude for the GS mod, which many others would not. Thanks for the response. Absolutely no point in possibly creating more problems by trying to fix a rare one: it just came as a complete surprise to me when it occurred. Friendly fire? HMS Sheffield rides again: Excellent! Whilst on the subject of possible bugs/glitches, I observed something strange in a recent PBEM game: Norway is under Allied control and Sweden is under Axis control with both sides fighting for the control of Sweden. The Allies (me in this case) ...
