The addition or subtraction of VMD is not altered by terrain Under the general movement rules on p.40, bottom of the fisrt column, it says "The lower distance appilies to the whole move if any part of the battle group is in distance-reducing terrain at any stage..." Again this is under th...

Evading into terrain

I'm sure this as been asked before:

A LF unit is evading into difficult terrain which is 3" away. They roll a "6" on a VMR, turn and move. Is their movement resteicted to 4" because of the terrain or do they get the extra 2" meaning a move of "6" :?:

Marc-thanks for the great time and the smooth running of all the events. My bubbies and I played in the classic on Friday and were afraid of the jerk factor going in, but everyone was helpful and listened even to us first timers. It said alot about the great group of people who have moved to FOG fro...

I'm glad you asked. Jeff Fletcher will be running a demo game on Thursday. Specific details will be announced shortly.

Any news on when Thursday this will be? And is it the same game as the link shows?

You did it correctly, the rule is on page 71, first bullet..."charge that did not qualify as a flank or rear charge, the battle group must pivot to conform with the front edge" It so happens I had a similar situation but when I confromed it left my BG set up for a rear charge against them,...

Have you any evidence to back this up? I have never understood this question. People who ask it have the same available sources/ evidence as the writers. I believe the question really comes from why don't my elephants, LH, flaming pigs work like they did in...(privious rule set I used). One of the ...

Thanks for letting me what figures were what. I have found the GB a little small when comparing before painting, but almost all figures blend once painted and based. I like Foundry and some of the Old Glory figs, but Crusader are also very nice. My buddies and I are rebasing our 15mm, but swit...

I like using a marker for the general in the front line. It makes it easier to see who is fighting and to remove bases as needed. Pushing back the front rank stans for a 40 deep general looks a little odd and can get in the way where as a general can be moved or even removed if you have a marker sho...

Retiring Movement

From another questions, I understand that LF and LH can retire out of the restricted area of enemy units. However, how far can the LF or LH move? Is it against any troop type? Is this the only time (restricted area movement) that they can retire? Is this some place in the rulebook?

Thanks

LH are not undrilled cav, but are skirmiskers and move as such.

Mounted with light spear only count as a POA in impact when all other POAs are caneled or net out to zero.

Okay, I get it now, LH are skirmishers so skirmish, cavalry, light chariot and drilled troops move in their column while elephants, undrilled foot, ect are other undrilled. thanks

My confusion came from the headings on the table. The heading Undrilled Cavalry or Light chariots made it sound, to me anyway, that light Horse was different from cavalry and therefore fell under Other Undrilled. So now, what types/BG fall under Other Undrilled? Thanks[/b]

Difficult movement

I have another question about advances. An undrilled LH unit is close enough to be charged by a Cavalry unit at five inches. The LH unit wants to wheel and move so must roll CMT for a difficult move and fails. The rules state(p.43) if a unit fails a CMT it do a simple move. What simple move can the ...

Restricted Area movement

I’m sure someone else has already asked this but, I have a question about the restricted area movement. I understand that a unit is pinned if it is within 2MU and directly in front of an enemy unit. On page 74 at the bottom of the left hand column the rule states: “Make a move that ends further away...
