New Thirty Years War Range

Post by khurasan_miniatures »

Happy to preview the first set -- German style Kurassiere in 3/4 plate and wearing the zischagge helmet, as German heavy cav generally did.

Good as Livonians/Germans in the Swedish army as well, and as Haselrig's Lobsters.

These are biggish 15s, 18s really, so you can mix them with popular current ranges. :)

Coming in about 6 weeks.

These were made right away because they fill a gap in another very popular TYW line.

Mike Broadbent then has another project to make for me, which we've been putting off for some time but needs to get done so it's ready in time for the Clash of Empires book.

After that, the infantry sets will be done, two German sets at first. These will be followed by bandolier reiter, then artillery, then high command -- TYW Imperialist personalities. In other words, I will comply with the command, "put up your Dukes!" :)

I imagine that Mike should be done with my Clash of Empires job by late December to early January, then the infantry will be made, then the rest of the stuff, followed by the Spanish TYW models.

Just when I thought I had completed my lead purchases for this period, someone comes along and produces something irresistible. Curses!

As I said on PMT - curse you, curse you, for starting what looks like a superb looking new range probably compatable with Testudo!

P.S. Are the Chinantecs available yet, I could not see them on the Khurasan Miniatures web page?

You will be pleased to learn that they are in FOGR6: Cities of Gold, and look to me like quite a viable army in FOGR.

The Iroquois are also looking pretty good, and even the Chichimecs are better in FOGR than in FOGAM.

Great stuff there!

I would love to see some dismounted dragoons and horse holders, if you're looking for suggestions of additional models to make.

Great news Richard!

Not on the site yet but I'll be sending the figures to Artmaster straightaway to get some painted for display on my site.

Would horse-holders be mounted or dismounted? IIRC Wagner's book shows them mounted. He incidentally shows a group of ten (IRC) horses being held by one rider, the bridle of each looped over their neighbour's neck.
I'm not sure how prevalent the "7th Cavalry" style of dismount and shoot/mount and scoot skirmishing was for dragoons. I suggested the layout for plate on Swedish dragoons to Ryszart Brzezinski for his excellent Gustavus Osprey but it was just show the kit and uniforms in a dramatic arrangement. As it was one of the refrences Phil used for DBR, I've harboured an inkling of guilt ever since - probably misplaced.

There are a few dismounted horse=holders about, it would be nice to see some mounted horseholders.

Beautiful figures. Sadly they are too large to fit with my Minifigs and Donningtons.

I thought that Donningtons' figures fit in size-wise with Testudo ones. If that's the case, then these should fine then, at least with the Donningtons. Does anyone know if that is true or not?

Just had a game, preparing for another, put a base of Donnington next to a base of Testudo, the latter slightly taller, but on the table the units sit ok next to each other, I would not mix them in the same unit tho!

So we have to wait until March to order TYW foot?
