Re: "No advance" or "CMT to advance" Fire Result?
yes but in the results of firing table (pge 54) under 1 or 2 hits there are 2 results: CMT to advance / Cavalry must retire to 3 MU if closer (with asterisk on pge 54 \ no asterisk on PLAYSHEETS ).
What is the reaction of a cavalry unit if get shot at 2 MU and takes 1 or 2 hits?

Re: "No advance" or "CMT to advance" Fire Result?
A cavalry unit assaults an infantry and takes 1 hit from defensive fire at 2 MU.
does it have to retire to 3 MU and stop the assault or it retires to 3 MU takes a CMT and if succesfull makes contact with its target?

Re: A complicated situation...
the british cavalry is at skirmish formation so it is the "all other troops or situations" in the combat table. as for the brigade officer attachment , on page 89 under officers it says " ...he behaves in every way like a division commander except that he has no command points and onl...

Re: Firing over skirmishers

Re: Firing over skirmishers
and consider that my skirmishers fire at you for 1 round needing 5+ before my infantry charges .
i want to understand why this 2 MU stops the guns from ignoring skirmishers for long range shooting and makes this tricky situation!!!

Re: Firing over skirmishers
you sound reasonable but imagine this: i have my infantry brigade against your large heavy 12lbs artillery battery starting at 16 MUs with a light infantry unit in skirmish formation 1 MU in front of my brigade . i play first , you shoot only at my skirmishers needing 6s. and this is going on till i...

Re: Firing over skirmishers
yes you are right my friend about the combined arms in napoleonic warfare and the skirmish screen but have you ever see skirmisher screen at long range? i dont. skirmishers cant screen the cannon ball so thats why the rules allow you to ignore them when you fire at long range at targets behind them ...

Re: Firing over skirmishers
my friend pptheos says that if we go exactly by the rule , positioning a unit of skirmishers 4.5cm in front of a unit in tactical and moving them against an artillery unit starting from 40 cm distance , means that the guns cannot ignore the skirmishers and fire to the unit behind cause the distance ...

Re: Superior Conscript Infantry in 6's - Good Attack unit
...Infantry can support infantry and artillery, so forget about putting your cav out back. Quality does not make any difference for support in FOGN, so you can have conscripts supporting veteran grenadiers if you want, however the conscripts only get rear support for cohesion tests if an actual uni...

change of facing - change of formation and moving
can a unit change facing and/or formation and move afterwards or it needs a CMT to move cause the move after the change of facing/formation counts as a second move? ex. a french line infantry unit in extended line changes formation to tactical. can it move 15cm forward or it has to pass a CMT cause ...
