Rate of fire
Hi guys. I know it was discussed at length, for example here: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26663 All nice and good, but i was unable to find spreadsheets with RoF values for Soviet and Allied arty, while i am sure i've seen one somewhere on this forum. Cannot find it now. Can some...

Re: Requesting GC 1942' save files
Here you go. Both saves are at the deployment turn, colonel difficulty, classic rules, normal RNG, reform of units allowed.
Note that you need to upgrade / overstreight all units before deploying in Normandy, because remaining prestige will be lost to you forever, so no need to be frugal.

Re: Requesting GC 1942' save files
I believe i can provide you both when i am home, but you would want to specify what difficulty / rules / other conditions would you like to have, as i don't have saves as it is, just saved core (don't know how to share saved core, can anyone advise?). And for Western campaign you may want to specify...

Re: AT defensive fire
Towed AT units can actually be used only in defensive scenarios, when you've got to entrench yourself and engage in "not a one step back" operation till the end. We don't have much of those, do we? Otherwise these ATs are useless. Self-propelled ATs are a bit better, especially those Sovie...

Re: This game is a bit of a joke, surely.
Now THAT's what you call a statement :D The game is still playable twenty years after release. Who can match it? Maybe earlier versions of the Civilization, Alpha Centauri most definitely included. And Master of Orion, part two. Too bad the franchise was killed, but second part is still good. Cannot...

Re: Soviet Corps - Battle of Romainia: Winning conditions
1. Take all initial objectives. Don't bother leaving nearby romanian troops intact. 2. After you do this, control of the remaining Romanian troops, located mostly to the South, shall be given to you. 3. As Romanians are week, you need to marshal several artillery pieces, a couple of tanks and an inf...

Re: Am I screwed?
that Pz IIC I upgraded right away to a Pz IIIH. the Pz IIIH's seem to hold up better than the Pz IVF's.. Always thought that upgrading to 4-series is much better in long run. Not that long from Zhitomir, actually. Pz-III N/L are generally better than contemporary IVs against enemy armor, but third ...

Re: Soviet Corps SE Units
By the time i finished Kursk (which turned out to be an offensive operation) i had two SE infantry units and a Focke-Wulf. I captured latter in Caucasus, and never dreamed to disband it, as it's the backbone of my air force now  Fighter is not upgradable, like every other SE plane i've seen, b...

Re: Am I screwed?
Wouldnt waste money on new infantry, you will get more bonus inf along the way with plenty of heroes+experience... Five units doesn't sound enough in 1940, most likely he had lost some along the way. One or two extra would do. What i do not understand is the number of fighters - never had more than...

Re: Soviet corps - a bit of newbie ranting
I got my first SC SE unit at Rzhev-Vyazma. It was a KV-2. The 1 extra ammo that the SE units get was helpful. Liked the paint job on the unit as well. I fell just short of getting a DV at Moscow though as my counter attack on the 4th objective wasn't enough to clear the hex. Uran completed, Saturn ...

Re: Am I screwed?
Koenig Tigers are sooo slow... They are at par with Tiger I due to larger fuel capacity, but non the less unsuitable for quick assault operations over long distances. In-game Fireflys and IS-2s are seriously superior to Panthers in terms of armor and initiative. Quite often my vanguard, comprised of...

Re: Am I screwed?
I have found that infantry-heavy approach is very effective through 1940, but starts to get a bit harder to manage in Russia because the distances mean more time in transports. 43 onwards, I can take out most soviet armour in close terrain with a 12 or 13 strength grenadier unit (defending or attac...

Re: Soviet corps - a bit of newbie ranting
Played axis grand campaign for a while, then decided to give SC one more try. And again - it takes 2 KV-1 tanks and two 152-mm arties to take out single wehr inf unit with normal strength and no entrenchment, staying in a clear terrain hex. All units on both sides have 100-200 exp. I just CANNOT wra...

Re: Am I screwed?
My Elite Replacements in the field cost 4 times as much. Is that because I am playing at Field Marshall level? Definitely. I play at colonel difficulty with AI 2 and reduced random fluctuations. I disagree with a lot of this. From my point of view, being "economically effective" means usi...

Capturing north-west corner can give you something useful, but do not overstretch yourself, or you regret it.NotOneStepBack wrote:Demyansk is pretty easy, so I am gonna deploy straight defensive forces.
And clearing western part is quite entertaining.

Start of Vyazma, 27.7k Prestige All units in reserve, not going to list heros, too much work. Most are 3+ stars ... Thanks for the tread, NOSB, really enjoyed reading it. Re: Corp force from 43 East to 44 West?
They've locked this option in the game, and did it for a reason. In 42-43 western campaign prestige is annoyingly scarce. Besides, just when the campaign starts they take away 3/4 of your 1941 core and almost all prestige. Taking into account imminent upgrade of remaining core to panthers and FW190s...

Re: Where are the SU-85 and SU-100 in Soviet Corps?
I still have that nuke unit. I think that would be a suitable argument against the 152mm gun. Nuke unit? What nuke unit? BTW, here is a nuke shell for ya'. And note, that SU-152 actually CAN shoot it, as it was designed for ML-20, among others. http://img12.nnm.me/8/d/a/0/1/b9b80f7465cef407716320d3...

Re: Where are the SU-85 and SU-100 in Soviet Corps?
First Soviet AT SPGs were SU-76 and Su-122. Former was turretless light tank using barrel of 76-mm field/AT gun (known as USV or ZiS-3 as towed versions), while latter was simplified T-34 using M-30 122-mm gun as main armament. No turret there too, of course. Both went into production in the middle ...
