The rules state that you can expand to meet and existing overlap. Rules also say that you can overlap in a side to side contact. So I think spears can expand to meet that overlap. Rules also say that BG that can´t conform still fight as conformed. I can´t find any reason reading the rules not to all...

I quite like changes on elephants. 3 dice at impact+-1 for loosing impact phase+-1 loosing against Elephants should dry opponent´s mouth when charged by them, what, in the way I see, is all this about: the feeling. I´m sure that legionaires did not think: "Great! Elephants in front of me! Sure ...

I got now my rulebook. As it reads, it says that you can contact the Cv behind if you pass a CMT. So, it would be: You declare the charge. The enemy LH evades. Before you charge, pass a CMT in order to contact Cv. Otherwise, you stop at 1MU. If you pass the CMT, then the Cv must: a) Pass a CMT if it...

I´d say the order of events is the key. So: 1) The LH must not test. Just stops 1 MU before it contacts fragmented cav. (see Attemps to charge with skirmishers) 2) Cv must not test since it´s not receiving a charge. About the second part, I have not my book here, but I understand that if it passed a...

Yes, but reads "capable of charging", not "capable of declaring a charge". Shock troops can "charge without orders".

If I had to decide umpiring this, I´d say it´s a threathened flank. If skirmishers weren´t there, it would. More naked enemies throwing stones and staring swearwords would not make me feel safer.

Maurikian Byzantine

Funny how things change. In a recent post I wrote how byzantine armies seemed not very useful for my after buying D&F, and so I decided to start a Dailami/Ghaznavid army. But, it's been a long time since I started these armies and I'm still in process, and yesterday I read D&F again, and wit...

Curiosity about some points

Hi. I´m expecting with illusion this ruleset. I´ve never played Ren. games, and I have some questions, just mere curiosity: Will be there mixed BG of shooters and pikes or so? For the people that has played, is shooting much much important? Do good close quarters fighters still have their role? Is t...

Hmm. I wonder who has a Nikephorian Byzantine army? (The words "rough" and "smooth" spring to mind here) I had the same feeling when I bought D&F companion book. I was very interested on Nikephorians, but after reading the list, I decided that I was not that skilfull to rais...

Confirmation request

Hi there! I played a game with some newbies and a raised a situation that I had surprisingly never seen before, and that I tried to solve using the manual. Please confirm if I did it correctly. BB .- Enemy LF 9 MU far. BB CC CC .- Enemy LF 7 MU far. AA My LH. Well, I declare a charge with A unit on ...

I think once you fail you CMT, you must treat the situation as if you had declared a charge, thus defining a direction of charge allowed by the rules. Then your opponent evades, etc.

Cavalry against infantry

In the spanish version of the rules, I've read this stament, in Joint Action Phase:
"Cavalry moves back if at least half their opponents are steady infantry".
But, if the other half is mounted, do they move back too? I've always played as if not.

As I wrote in other post, if in an open tournament players scored only the AP they cause to their enemies, things would be quite different. Player would focus on winning battles by routing enemies. There would not be room to speculate. The problem with this is that this might lead to small armies o...
