Classical Greek list question

Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a Spartan list (pre-460) and I have the follwing question: If the whole army is Spartan (without any allies included), can this army contain BGs of non-upgraded generic hoplites, without an allied general? Meaning, the army would only have 3 Spartan generals comm...

Bonjour J-L, Tin Soldier sells crossbowmen with separate crossbows. You can see them here: http://tinsoldieruk.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=186_206 . Even though Tin Soldier sells a wide range of single weapons ("Universal soldier" section), I don't see any crossbows being sold ...

I believe it is a legal flank charge (in fact, I've tried to look for reasons it would not be one, and I cannot find any. Unless of course there is something drastically wrong with the picture...). What happens now? Do the middle foot get to throw two dice in the impact phase, since they are not tur...

Hi again, I don't remember the values of each base/BG by heart in order to calculate, but one thing that seems wrong in this version 2 is the number of followers: I'm pretty sure you cannot take them in groups of 4 bases - I think the number is 6 to 8. I notice that both in version 1 and version 2, ...

Hi, I think that what answers your question is that for each battlegroup of Detached Bushi that you get, you also have to have a battlegroup of Detached Followers. I do not see any limitations on the composition or numbers of these BGs - they can be as large or as small as you wish (as far as bases ...

Your 15mm Samourai, what period are they from? Pre- / post-1500s?

I guess that the "pop" for the later ones comes with the originality of the back flags, whereas for the earlier ones it's always the intricacy of the multicolor armor which attracts attention.

Why not use a 10mm mini for the chariot? Sure, it will be a bit awkward to see it right next to the bigger 15mm foot, but it will easily fit onto a regular chariot base without any problem. Not to mention that some of the 10mm minis out there have excellent sculpting jobs.

Classical Greek Cavalry

Hi all, I would need a clarification for a Classical Greek army, dating from before 450 (the armoured version): The main contigent would be Spartan, which, based on the Main List, would have 1 BG of 4 Cavalry. Can it have an allied contingent of Non-Thessalians with one more Cavalry BG? According to...

Oui. Moi-même, sur un socle de Mob/Cav je mets un cavalier et trois piétons (un archer et deux naginatas).

Quoique, l'option de socler les bushi+followers avant 1467 comme des Mobs n'est pas obligatoire, c'est juste recommandé.

Hoplite army design - Is It Legal?

Hello everyone, I would just require a bit of advice, in order to decide upon my future Classical Greek army design: Is it legal to build a Thessalian army with two generals (one C-in-C and one Sub-General), accompanied by one Spartan Ally-general and by one [Italiot-Asiatic Greek-Sicilian-whatever ...

On P93 it says "If more than one BG is shooting at the same target, add the total number of bases to which a '1 dice per x bases' rule applies before calculating the number of dice to roll" Hmmm, yes, I can see your point Hammy and it would seem that you are right. Which means that, when ...

I don't have the rule book handy, but let me propose another reading of the rules, which I would have applied if the situation had happened in one of my games: 1. A is not correct, because I've always assumed that the "1 per X" rule applies to the BG as one unit. So, taking each BG separat...

ErikNotTheRed As for Late Heian-Muromachi Samurai, I think that the figures best corresponding to the era are the Essex ones. In fact, Essex's whole samurai series seems to be designed to fit exactly that era, which I, unfortunately, have not found in any other companies. They are good figures, well...

I don't have my army book handy, but, having worked a bit on that list, here's what I think: - First up, I'm not sure you can get 2 BGs of Protected Average Monks. IIRC, you can only have one, the other has to go to the Unprotected part of the list. I might be wrong though - please check. - Second, ...

I would also question that you have 13 BG's, but four are allied - leaving 9 BG's with three generals. I have tried the Scots on numerous occasions, but the average troops with one general who cannot be commited to combat means they are a liability. Even the four Heavily Armoured Heavy Weapons Guys...

Hey everyone, Here is the list that I have found suits my game style. It follows the same approach as Madcam's, however it avoids using 4s of Average Knights (especially because it used to, and got beaten everytime). 6 Average Protected Undrilled Crossbows 8 Poor Protected Drilled Crossbows 6 Averag...

Well, a few months ago I was troubled about the same exact thing: how could I get cheap overhead images of all kinds of terrain, that would also be easy to use and play with (ie not be uneven, so that I can place my battlegroups on it, without them toppling over, so that it's perfectly clear where m...
