I was looking through the rule book last night, and I still cannot find any disadvantages for Medium Foot. They have far superior movement than Heavy Foot. In the blurb in the back it mentions that MF are not as good against Cav and don't hold out as long in a loosing fight. How does this translate ...

To answer the original question though, in FOG the LF will not support the cavalry in any way. If behind the Cavalry BG they will not fight in melee or shoot in impact or shooting phase.

My intent was to run it as two BGs. That would give the cav some added strentgth in combat. I figure that since the greek cavalry is somewhat deficient, I may as well give it as much strength as possible.

The ancient Greeks would often send light infantry running along with their cavalry. This can be seen in the movie Alexander or it can be read about in Caesar's De Bellum Gallicum (for a Roman/Germanic example).

So, can this be accurately be depicted in FoG? LF is the same speed or faster than Cav ...

There are a number of Warhammer models that could be used for FoG. Most of the Bretonian range could be used for 100YW. The English knights probably wouldn't be armed too much differently than the French (but don't quote me, my speciality is Ancient history). The archers would be..well...archers ...

Here a list I made up when musing about Spartans. Not sure it is perfect but it is a decent start. I think I would try to work in a group of cavalry, even if they were pretty weak troops. Generals are 3 Spartan TCs and an Allied TC.

i'd ditch the IC

- moving first is better than deploying first with foot sloggers
- you wont need an IC much for shooting as youve gone for the armoured chaps
- they shouldnt need an IC for complex moves with TCs about to glue onto the drilled BGs and shunt them about

That will leave me with 3x BGs of Spartans, 2x BGs of Perioikoi, 4x of assorted LF, and 1 BG of Cav. What should I use the extra points on? Should I get a fourth BG of 6 Spartans? IC, 2x TC
Spartan Citizens: 3x BGs each of 8 stands. Armoured.
Perioikoi: 2x BGs each of 8 stands. Armoured.
Javelinmen: 2x BGs ...

I looked harder last night and found some in the Later Dynastic Egyptians. The chariot rules look pretty good. I might need an army of them now!

If you can wait a month or so you will have a much wider choice of heavy chariot armies :wink:
