Thanks!
Still, with all the movement advantages, it almost looks like MF give more bang for the buck, just beware of Cav!
Yes. There is a disadvantage for MF losing versus HF too. The other issue is a lot of MF are not as well equipped as HF.
That was the biggest problem I was seeing. There ...

Medium Foot
I was looking through the rule book last night, and I still cannot find any disadvantages for Medium Foot. They have far superior movement than Heavy Foot. In the blurb in the back it mentions that MF are not as good against Cav and don't hold out as long in a loosing fight. How does this translate ...

Impact Phase: Whoe Gets to Fight
A friend of mine and I were having a discussion last night about the impact phase. When the units slam into one another:
Do they meet stand for stand?
OOO

XXXX
XXXX
The Os represent my Spartans and the Xs are his Hastati/Principes. In Impact, will there be three OOOs facing four XXXXs or will ...

Mixing Cav and LF
The ancient Greeks would often send light infantry running along with their cavalry. This can be seen in the movie Alexander or it can be read about in Caesar's De Bellum Gallicum (for a Roman/Germanic example).
So, can this be accurately be depicted in FoG? LF is the same speed or faster than Cav ...

There are a number of Warhammer models that could be used for FoG. Most of the Bretonian range could be used for 100YW. The English knights probably wouldn't be armed too much differently than the French (but don't quote me, my speciality is Ancient history). The archers would be..well...archers ...

Skiritai
How would you represent the Skititai in a Classical Greek (Spartan) list? They were a light unit that fought on the extreme left of the Phalanx. If they fought as part of the phalanx, I doubt they'd be classified as LF, so would they be MF? I was thinking Thracians with Offensive Spears would fit ...

Re: ditch the IC
i'd ditch the IC
- moving first is better than deploying first with foot sloggers
- you wont need an IC much for shooting as youve gone for the armoured chaps
- they shouldnt need an IC for complex moves with TCs about to glue onto the drilled BGs and shunt them about
I am also preparing a ...

Thank you all for your help. I think I will take the advice and drop the Spartiates to 6 stand BG's. That will leave me with 3x BGs of Spartans, 2x BGs of Perioikoi, 4x of assorted LF, and 1 BG of Cav. What should I use the extra points on? Should I get a fourth BG of 6 Spartans? Would any MF be ...

Need help with Spartans
I’ve just about got my Spartan list together and I have run into a snag. How important is Cavalry to a Classical Greek list?
I have two variant lists. Both lists have:
IC, 2x TC
Spartan Citizens: 3x BGs each of 8 stands. Armoured.
Perioikoi: 2x BGs each of 8 stands. Armoured.
Javelinmen: 2x BGs ...
