OK, so if the demo works, version 1.06 will work and there will not be any problem with this java bug thing that seems to get mentioned alot. (I'll buy the Slitherine version)

Potential new buyer concerned whether the game works

Hi all, I have played the demo and like it. Have decided to buy the game and was reading the Matrix games forums. Looks like this game does not currently work for a great number of players? I have Windows XP service pack 3 and no idea what level of java is currently included. Is there currently any ...

Biggest enemy when taking photos of tiny soldiers is depth of field. Thanks to the physics behind camera lenses all cheap point and shoot digital cameras have a very small lens, which equals great depth of field. In other words any cheap digital camera should be able to take great pics of model sold...

My Antigonus Gonatas 278BC army is my favourite. This is early Macedonian successor, you have tone of choise over different troop types.

Hammy, As far as I remember I kept modifying the first post, so that the first post is the end result of the thread. If you want to sticky it, consider keeping the initial post and just removing everything afterwards, if you want to tidy it up. Or feel free to just cut and paste as much of it as you...

I think only skirmishers (and maybe chariots?) can actually throw javelins as missile weapons. This is a game design feature rather than neccessarily a reflection of what the historical counterparts did with their pointy sticks

I have rebased all my generals on 40mm round bases. They are far superior to square bases where the general does not really stand out. The general is only really suppossed to be a marker anyway, he is not a fighting unit

I really struggle with 800 point games, time is always my enemy.

Think I will suggest 650 points to my friends and see what they think.

Corvus Belli and Xyston are both VERY nice, much better than Donnington, Essex etc. But I think they do all have their clothes on. I am using them as Galatians though

Thanks Scott, will try. Just played Alexandrian Macedonians friends carthaginians this evening. One you get to melee the pikes are on ++ over the gauls and scutarii who got cut to pieces. Macedonians also had better cavalry. Our general opinion was that the carthaginian needed lots of terrain, some ...

Instead for "comptetition" purposes I would like to see a significant REDUCTION in the number of elite legionaries you are allowed to take. The list allow you to take virtually an entire army listed as ELITE which is ludicrous, and anything that isn't elite will certainly be superior. I c...

Same thing with pike they are very good as they are but if you allowed armoured as an option they would be unbeatable. Part of the way through his campaign Alexander replaced all his phalangites armour with top notch metal suits, Whilst he replaced worn out equipment I don't believe that the histor...

From a purely "histroical" approach I thought Elite should be an option for part of the spartan army. However I think a key consideration for the rules designers, which I reluctantly agree with  is to model the overall effectiveness of the troops as a whole. Elite offensive spear woul...
