Would FoG work with square bases

I am off to pick up the rules tonight or tomorrow (wargames rules at my local bookstore, who would have thought it?) but I am curious about something. I have become found of 40mm square bases for 15mm troops for a bunch of reasons, the protection of leveled lancesa dn pikes not the least. How sensit...

Q About general basing

As everyone here surely knows, DBR, which I have been basing to, integrates generals into combat stands. I was going to mount a few command figures diffferently for some "large scale skirmish" ideas I have been playing with and I was wondering how FoG bases generals. Likely working in the ...

I give it about a week from release before the first set of unofficial italian wars mods and army lists come out. If that. :)

I expect that in most groups the title of the rules will be used for the first half hour. After that, they will be called "The Osprey Rules" Why not start there?

I imagine the description for anyone who played 3rd Ed is more likely to be "no tooth gamer" My dentist would agree. I do think we tend to forget how innovative and interesting the earlier generations of WRG were at the time. What seems like old hat now really wasn't then. Still, I too am...

You might want to try the forums at

http://theminiaturespage.com/

It is a more general site (but with a specialist ancients section) that might better address interests beyond the Art of War rules set.

Meneuver and scenerio games

I tend to play scenerios rather than equal-points games, and to emphasize maneuver over "everyone starts lined up, lets have a bash"

Any thoughts on the suitability of AoW to maneuver games?

So if I think of Battle Group as a mechanism to implement a medieval "Battle" will I be far off?

Just a thought, from the point of vew of someone looking at the spine on your typical Osprey rack, you want a very clear title. How about "Ancient Battles in Miniatures" Art of war sounds, to someone who is not a gamer, like a collection of war art or a precis of sun tsu. You want the guy ...

My favourite armies are late 15th and early 16th century Italian. Not for any particular efficiency, but because I enjoy the historical association.

this sounds like it could be a high capital venture but it if you do want to consider it at some stage it might be worth your while contacting some of the more prolific 1/72nd plastic figure manufacturers to see if a tie in is possible. An suggestion, even if there is no explicit partnership. I see...

How much does base depth matter in AoW? I play mostly Italian Wars, so my 15mm Pike are based for DBR - 20mm depth instead of the DBM 15. I would really be happy if that difference didn't matter very much.
