BTW if some units like helicopters might cause problems and take a lot of time, wouldn't it be better to forget about them for the time being and add them in later updates ?

The idea is good, and could work for the graphics mods. However, it would be virtually impossible to add the mods with campaigns to such a thing due to the chance that they might be unbalanced by the changes in other mods.
