Allow railroads though uncaptured territory

Post by Applepie68 »

This is just a small suggestion but would it be possible to make it so railroads can go through uncaptured territory? I don’t come across this often but occasionally I have one or two units stuck far in the back due to them staying behind to mop up resistance, especially in China (Also will we ever get a China campaign to complement the Japanese one?). I know if you completely encircle the uncaptured territory it will capture it the next turn but sometimes it’s just not possible, and with being unable to draw the exact path for a unit to take it makes capturing the entire length of a railroad quite turn consuming. So I was wondering if it was possible to make it so they worked like other transports in which you can send them as far as their movement allowed and if the happen to hit an enemy they simply get ambushed.

I think it's actually good this way, or not? Trains were never used on the frontlines, always only in the rear, I think. Movement in secured territory was faster than in new territory.

China campaign: do you think there is enough interesting content for that?
I mean, if they start covering all minor factions, maybe they would have to make a Romania campaign, the Ethiopian theatre, and many more.

Railroads tracks in enemy territory are easily sabotaged, you don't want to run a train directly through the frontlines unless it's an absolute emergency. It's likely you'll end up with a derailed locomotive and a ruined/captured train.

Armored trains may move through enemy territory and switch ownership along the track.
