It seems the "United Nations" of this forum are ruling against these topics of discussion (in accordance with the charter we signed to participate here); it therefore seems wise to respect their wishes to avoid dealing with a peacekeeping mission or (worse yet!) a diplomat armed with a mandate.

I, the government of this thread, therefore call for respect for the forum's charter, in line with the wishes of the forum members.

Glory to Me, Supreme Leader of this topic, etc., etc...

On a more serious note, I bring good news. Work on the next chapter has not only begun but is nearing completion.
This time, we are continuing the British campaign. It features four scenarios taking place at the same time as the last chapter released of the Russian campaign, but a few dozen kilometers further north, in Estonia.

The scenarios will be slightly shorter than those I previously released for the Russian chapter. The scale will be a bit more focused. With the Russians, we played the entire army tasked with Latvia. With the British, we will command only the small NATO contingent assigned to support the Estonian army.

Image

I took into account a past comment from Tobi regarding my first American chapter. Back then, I tried to stick to a relatively realistic order of battle; the ratio of US forces to Kurdish soldiers was thus very low and the bulk of certain scenarios was fought almost entirely with auxiliary units. There was less sense of progression, as the player's "core" force saw very little action in some scenarios.
To avoid this, I’ve opted for a less realistic ratio for this upcoming chapter, one that gives more weight to the player's core force. For the first scenario (the defense of Narva), for instance, the ratio is roughly 1/3 British units to 2/3 Estonian units. Given that your core force will be responsible for providing fighter cover, armored support, helicopters, and so on... the outcome of battles hinges more on your core than on auxiliary units.
I should probably rework the American campaign, by the way ; much like I recently did with the Russian chapters. But I’ll get to that later.

Image

My goal is to release this next chapter by the end of next week. So far, three of the four scenarios are ready. I’m currently balancing the third one. It’s a partially defensive mission, and finding the right balance is tricky: I need enough enemies to keep the pressure on the player, but not so many that they get swamped by an ocean of units. While the first two were easy to balance, this one is proving difficult.
Still, I’m sticking to the plan.

I’ll be back at the end of next week with a new chapter ready to go.

... if everything goes well

And thanks again to everyone for your suggestions!

Oh, this is probably going to be interesting as always, but bloody—I hope there’ll be plenty of prestige, as well as trophies in the form of bonuses! Anyway, we’re waiting for you, our French Tom Clancy ))))

As promised, I'm right on schedule!
I was able to take advantage of the national holiday to pick up the pace and finish everything in one go.
The next chapter (the third one) of the British campaign is (almost) ready.

Image

It features 4 scenarios set in Estonia as World War III breaks out. With a British point of view, this time.
However, I won't be releasing it today. I want to run a few tests first to make sure everything works properly.
If everything checks out, I'll release it tomorrow.

If you'd like more details on the upcoming content, feel free to take a look at the first post on the page.

See you tomorrow, then!

It’s finished: here is the third chapter of the British campaign.

Image

Link : https://www.mediafire.com/file/fjv9cpxl ... 3.rar/file

After a first chapter focused on counter-insurgency in Afghanistan, followed by a second ensuring air and naval security in the Baltic Sea, our British protagonists now find themselves having to defend Estonia against a massive Russian invasion. Although overwhelmed, the orders are clear: hold the line.

This story takes place during the fourth Russian chapter, which was released two weeks ago. We are just a few hundred kilometers further north this time.
Unlike the two previous British chapters, there are no special scenarios here, just four classic battle scenarios in a true Panzer Corps tradition. There are objectives on the map, and it is up to you to control them, or rather to keep control of them.
Note that the British campaign will also feature a significant naval component. If you fared well in the previous chapter, you kept the HMS Dragon afloat. Well, you’ll be able to redeploy it in the Gulf of Finland, reinforced by other ships that you can also deploy in future British chapters. So, try not to send them to their doom needlessly! They might come in handy later! Ships will stay non purchasable, so protect them well
And as always, your core army carries over from one chapter to the next. If special scenarios aren't your thing, you can skip the previous two and start directly here with a default army if you prefer. Both are possible.

Same installation instructions as usual. If you run into trouble, refer to my first post (or ask for clarification if needed).

Next up: the third European chapter. It will also take place during that fictional October 2023 month, but much further south.
I also need to remember to update the previous chapters to my current standards: adding objectives that appear in the menu instead of pop-up messages, improving text formatting, and so on. But that’s a task for later.

In the meantime, have fun ! :D

So I started Chapter 3 playing as England with my usual core units and was quite surprised to see how the Russians were shooting down my upgraded planes as if they were children – though I did have to use inferior fighter models instead of my modern ground-attack aircraft, as there’s only a ground-attack version available ) It turned out a bit comical – the weak British and Estonian armies against the thugs from Russia! It would also have been nice to have a port so I could repair my weak but very expensive ships in terms of prestige and upkeep! As always, more details in the screenshots and replay! In the next map, we’ll be rescuing the Estonians with the help of the French ))) To be continued...

And so we continue the English saga of the defence of Estonia! My Franco-English forces have done a brilliant job of holding the line! We’ve wiped out loads of Russians and even captured their base ))) All they’ve got left are their planes, as my air force keeps dropping like flies when they come up against Putin’s falcons ))) Next up is the defence of Narva again, which is surrounded by hordes of orcs ))) Let’s see what happens next!!!

First of all, I’ve just made a small update to the campaign: I realized that the CAESAr unit appearing as a reinforcement during the last mission was marked as "core" instead of "auxiliary." Consequently, those who have already finished the campaign will have a CAESAr artillery unit in their arsenal for the upcoming chapters of the British campaign.

Let's just say that amidst the chaos of the evacuation, the unit ended up on the wrong ship. Rather than tying up transport assets needed elsewhere, the unit has been permanently reassigned to your own army. That said, you can always return it to the French army in the next scenario, and you'll be refunded its cost in prestige points.

And if you haven't played the campaign yet, the new downloadable version has the fix: the CAESAr is now correctly marked as "auxiliary." So, no embarkation mix-ups this time around. Pretend this paragraph doesn't exist.

For bondjamesbond: to put your mind at ease regarding air units, the next British chapter will focus on naval operations. And since the values for Russian naval fighters are a notch below the Typhoon's, there will be an opportunity to build up experience for a new generation of pilots.
Also, the naval version of the Typhoon is indeed a fighter, not a bomber (despite what the icon might suggest). That was a graphical error by Akkula that, unfortunately, he never fixed.

In fact, I'm starting to wonder if it might be worth contacting him to see if I could work on an update for Modern Conflicts.
Not a big one, I don't intend to take his place : but perhaps I could create a final version that fixes the remaining graphical errors he left behind (another error: the Estonian K9s I use in this chapter originally had South Korean flags), adds my "heroes" mini-mod and AssaultX's new decorations, and perhaps includes Tobi's armies and units. Everyone would need to agree to it, of course, but it could be fun.
I'll take a look at it when I have the time.

In the meantime, I'm taking a short break, and then I'll start the third European chapter.

It would be great if someone released a final build of Modern Conflicts, taking into account all the opinions, wishes, and improvements from individual volunteers! Adding new rewards, heroes, and features, plus nations and opportunities! Akkula would likely welcome such an update to correct inaccuracies and errors! As I understand it, he himself won't be returning to this mod or updating it! The build could be called Modern Conflicts: Featured and Supplemented!

And so, I’ve finished this chapter! The defence of Tallinn was a success – almost all the Russians were wiped out, along with their puny fleet. We’re looking forward to the next chapter – I hope it doesn’t take years to appear!!! The rest is in the screenshots and the replay.

Re: Modern Conflicts : World War III campaigns

Post by Imeror »

Hello everyone!

I haven't posted any updates for a while because I've been quite busy outside of Panzer Corps. I had intended to complete Part 4 of the WWIII campaigns over the summer, but my schedule got in the way, so I think I’ll be slightly adjusting my plans for the coming months.
Consequently, the Battle for the Suwalki Gap will be delayed a bit further. :(

Here are my plans for the near future:

1) I previously mentioned being somewhat dissatisfied with my Russian and American campaigns. I reworked the three Russian chapters a few months ago to bring them up to my current standards, and I’m much happier with them now. That leaves the two American chapters, which I plan to rework in the coming weeks.
The first US chapter will undergo a major overhaul: one scenario will be removed and five added, bringing the total to eight scenarios instead of four. This will give the player more upgraded units in preparation for the fighting in Europe ; similar to the adjustments I made for the Russian campaign, where I added scenarios to provide advanced units more smoothly.
Once that’s done, I won’t need to make any further adjustments to the old campaigns, everything will be perfectly clean!

2) After that, I’m going to try to figure out why some players can't access the main menu file used to launch the custom campaigns.
It might be related to screen resolution. I had previously noticed a graphical bug that could shift icons out of place if the resolution wasn't set correctly; perhaps this specific icon is suffering the same issue but across a wider range of resolutions. It’s just a theory, but it’s worth investigating.
I’m not at all certain I can fix it, but I’m going to give it a try. And who knows, I might find a workaround regardless.

3) Once all that is done, I’m also planning to create a Steam guide to compile my work for Modern Conflicts.
I’ve been posting content for two years now, and the original post where I gather everything is turning into quite a mess!
I’ll certainly keep updating this thread, but this new Steam guide will allow me to organize the content much more neatly, making it easier for anyone interested to navigate.

Since I’ve been posting content for two years now, I thought I’d take a moment to look back at what I’ve done.
Over these two years, I’ve created 58 scenarios for Modern Conflicts organized into 14 mini-campaigns, along with two standalone scenarios, a large-scale Korea scenario (thanks again to Tomas for the map), and two mini-mods: one adding names and icons for heroes, and another providing historical unit images for the Gulf War scenarios.
I also created some additional content for Tobi’s *March of the Eagles*, posting 19 scenarios covering the start of the First Punic War grouped into three consecutive mini-campaigns.
I also made two large maps: one of France, originally intended for a modern-day civil war scenario, and another of Sicily for the First Punic War, commissioned by Tobi. Since Tobi seems to be moving away from March of the Eagles, I might end up using that Sicily map myself for a sandbox scenario.
Then again, I have so much on my plate that it certainly won't be happening anytime soon, unfortunately.

All in all, I’ve been pretty active.
Unfortunately, for the coming weeks (or perhaps months), I’ll be posting far less playable content. That doesn't mean I'm quitting, though.
As the Terminator would say:

"I'll be back."

Hello Imeror,
I encountered this problem and solved it by adding these Panzercorps132 files.
Unzip the 7z file into the "Mods" folder within the Panzer Corps directory (not the "My Games" folder).
Next, use GME.
I hope this resolves the issue for everyone.

That would be great news!

I’m lucky enough not to have this issue on my computer so I can’t verify it myself ; but if it works for you there’s no reason to think it won’t work for others.

As I mentioned earlier, I plan to create a Steam guide to neatly compile everything I’ve made for the Modern Conflicts mod. May I copy this short text and include a link to the file you uploaded so others can try the solution without having to hunt down this specific post?
By the way, I was browsing a Russian forum where some users were complaining about not being able to launch custom content from the menu; I think this could help them, too.

If it still doesn't work, I’m considering other options. I think I could change the links so that the icon used to launch the tutorial mini-campaign (which always appears in the menu but likely never gets played anymore) launches the custom content instead. That would be a last resort, but I’m keeping it in mind just in case I keep getting negative feedback despite your solution.
The 16 downloads in a week suggest that, fortunately, this problem isn't very widespread, but the number is high enough to warrant working on a fix.

Anyway, thank you very much ! :D

Hello Immeror,
No problem at all with sharing it with the Panzer Corps community.
I would be happy if it helped resolve a problem.
However, I haven't received any feedback from the members affected by the issue...
Yves

Bonjour Immeror,
Aucun soucis pour partager avec la communauté Panzer Corps.
Je serais heureux si cela aidait à résoudre un problème.
Cependant, je n'ai eu aucun retour des membres concernés par la panne....

That's funny you ask it today...

... because I’m releasing a lot of new content right now!

A while back, I mentioned that I wasn't satisfied with my older Russian and American chapters. I’ve gained a lot of experience since I started, and I can clearly see that the quality of my work has improved significantly. Since the chapters are interconnected, it bothered me to keep lower-quality material from my firsts works within the same long campaign.
The Russian chapters already underwent a major overhaul two or three months ago; the equipment distribution was better balanced, I added several new scenarios, etc...

Thing is : I’ve finally finished doing the same for the American chapters!

The first American chapter has expanded from 4 scenarios to 8. Two were kept, one was thoroughly revamped, and one was removed. To make up for that, five new ones were added.
In the previous version, this first chapter covered the early months of the Deir ez-Zor campaign in Syria, concluding after initial clashes with the Russian army during the historic Battle of Khasham and a fictional battle against Turkish forces in Afrin during Operation Olive Branch.
I decided to cut that fictional battle in favor of depicting the conclusion of the Deir ez-Zor campaign. This allows the first American chapter to end more logically, culminating in the final crushing of the last ISIS territorial stronghold. It also creates a better thematic link to the first Russian chapter, where the objective includes preventing the organization's supporters from establishing a new territorial base.
I’ve noticed that players generally prefer relatively short scenarios with simple objectives, so that’s what I’ve prioritized here. I’ll still create complex scenarios from time to time, but I plan to do so less frequently than standard ones. Since this Syria chapter serves as the opening to the major American campaign, the unit core count is relatively low, which lends itself well to short scenarios.
That said, there is still a brief special air bombing mission. It serves both a thematic purpose (reminding players that the US contribution during this historical campaign focused on air support and special forces rather than massive ground deployments) and a gameplay function (encouraging the player to develop the air component of their core force.)
Historically, the US did not deploy massive ground forces during the operations in Syria. That is why the core force limit was set low in the original version of this chapter. However, since some players rightly pointed out that playing with a restricted core was less fun, I reduced the number of auxiliary units and allowed for a larger US deployment. Gameplay takes precedence over historical accuracy here. I applied the same principle to the third British chapter in Estonia, where the ratio of British to Estonian units is completely unrealistic, simply to give the player more control over their core force.

The second American chapter underwent more minor adjustments.
The "filler" scenario depicting US participation in the Bastille Day parade was replaced by a different filler scenario: a US force deployment exercise in Poland.
This new scenario serves the same technical and thematic purposes as the one I removed. I had to drop the Bastille Day scenario because it was originally designed to introduce a small core force for the second chapter. Since I reworked the first chapter to ensure the player starts with a much larger core, the original filler scenario was no longer a good fit, so I had to create a new one. And since no one had yet used Tomas's map of Europe, I used it as a base to quickly create the map (I cropped it to keep only the part of the continent I was interested in).
The other scenarios in the second chapter received only minor tweaks to better align with the units available to the player in this version.

This time, all my chapters are finally up to my latest standards. I also rewrote the text to make it clearer and easier to read. In the initial version, I had asked AI to improve the writing (since I’m not a native English speaker), but I felt it was laying the drama on too thick. So, I’m sticking to my decision to write the text myself, even if it means risking occasional mistakes.

Oh, and I also updated the British chapters, but only to fix the text; there were no major changes made to them.

Absolutely all my campaigns are up to date now, it feels great
There’s no need to turn back now; I’ll be able to focus on the upcoming chapters rather than the ones I worked on in previous years.

It is now time for me to start working on that Steam guide I’ve been talking about for a few weeks, to compile all my work.

At the same time, I’ll finally make some headway on the American Chapter 3.
The battle for the Baltic states isn't quite over yet !

See you soon !

PS : thanks for your maps Tomas ! We await you to do more :)

Even my friend’s legendary Slavic patience has its limits, which is why I decided to ask! I can see that I’ll have to download and replay it at some point, since you’ve updated and overhauled everything so thoroughly! As usual, the results and comments with my thoughts will follow later, as soon as I get round to the battle!
