Now you might ask why no other variants were added. I can't speak on behalf of Sonja or whoever contributed to DAW, but it may be due to time constraints.
In the original, there are around 650 different units in the list. In DAW, there are approximately 1,300 – so already double the number. It is true that a significant proportion of the additional units are included via the AMULET component. However, there are still a multitude of other figures in the game, as can be clearly seen from the many image examples.

This mod is not designed to bring an enormous variety of individual unit models onto the screen. There are mods on these pages that do this very extensively. In this mod, I did not want dozens of almost identical units, which severely impair clarity and tend to slow the game down. My priorities lie elsewhere, as has been demonstrated many times on these pages. This is by no means intended as a criticism of mods with a very high level of unit depth. There are some excellent examples of this here.

I am writing this so as not to give the impression that it is simply down to a lack of time.

The D-9 series becomes available on June 2, 1944, with the elite variant becoming available on September 1, 1944. However, it has a lower fuel and ammo capacity than the A-series.
I was thinking about improvements of the A-variant itself. In the game it is introduced and then never changes. This although various improvements were issued, from A1 - A10.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. The mod's unit roster is based on Amulet Mod's, in which only two fighter variants of the Fw 190 family are available as well - the aforementioned A version and the D-9 variant.

Now you might ask why no other variants were added. I can't speak on behalf of Sonja or whoever contributed to DAW, but it may be due to time constraints.

Imho the aircraft situation is a directly inherited problem, since it was not the focus at any step.
DAW inherited AMULET values, AMULET inherited vanilla PzC values.
And vanilla PzC had some wildly arbitrary unit values, especially for aircraft.

AMULET corrected some of those stats for ground units, like Sturmpanzer I and 17cm arty ranges, just not all of them (eg Sturmpanzer I availability).

Unfortunately even the wildest vanilla PzC air unit stats were not changed at all (neither combat stats nor availability).
The focus was on the EL and bonus unit rosters, adding a lot of choices in those regards.

Even before some of those PzC random stats were the wildly inconsistent naming schemes in the 1930s and early 1940s.
Eg in the late 1930s a Bf 110 version with a slightly different radioset was assigned its own designation.
Then the naming pendulum swung to the other side, resulting in majorly different aircraft sharing the same designation.

In principle comparable to the next german navy 12000t F-127 warship, which will be called a frigate, same as the totally different german navy 4000t F-128 warship being called a frigate.
Everything above a "Korvette" is a "Fregatte".
Though not on that scale of arbitrary, perhaps only current Japan can keep up with that.

Anyway, it would probably not be fair to amalgamate both those very different ships into one "frigate" entry in a game. Compared to eg another navy unit roster without those purely political naming restrictions.

I fully agree that most players prefer a limited and thus clearer unit roster.
Eg compared to the complex one I personally enjoy.

However imho the contrast between the AMULET large ground unit roster with historically based stats on one hand and the original PzC small fighter aircraft unit roster with wildly arbitrary stats and availability dates on the other hand might be a bit jarring?
longer, alternative "PG" like Campaign new version 0.34 from 2011.08.02 (another bugfix & now in zip format)

Arrived at OstPolen, May 8, 1942. Im, again, so glad to have found this mod even though it has been around for some time. The previous battle caught me off guard, had to restart it otherwise lost multiple units in encirclement... Those L.13 crack Russian units are hard to deal with, with my Mk.IIIs and IVs :-(. The L.13 movable Flaks cause 5 or 6 damage to my dear Fw.190s.
Im glad the AI is still hopeless clumsy (attacking infantry inside city with tank instead infantry, using arty last instead of first, units getting clogged before a bridge that I block with 2 tanks and arty, etc) - that would have been the ultimate mod to change the game's characteristics. Had multiple times when a unit was down to 1 or 2 points and could have been destroyed completely if AI had done smarter...
Anyway - on to OstPolen - 52 turns my god...

I like the variations of the units available in DAW, not intended as criticism, and appreciate the hard work that goes into a mod like this. Bravo. Danke vielmahls.
I tested the Brandenburger infantry but found this too overwhelming strong, despite the restriction of 3 ammo, so swapped it back for a Sturmpioniere.
The ELITE units are great. The appearance of the 8.8Pak and next the Versuchsjäger fill up the gap from the Pak38/Panzerjäger to the appearance of the StuGIII. Hard to accumulate experience with the Panzerjäger while the tanks gathered their experience in battle. Also come to appreciate the Luftwaffenbauregiment, which costs a core unit but very handy with airfields far away from the front. And then the MGnests, hidden in the bushes - have to admit I bumped into quite a few already by now...

The one thing I am missing is a list of the (hero) units that are awarded throughout the campaign. It affects my choice of buying units or not, as new units bought from 1942/43 onwards gather less experience from then on (and less chance of survival). As said, Im at May 8, 1942 now - have 37 core units slots now and assume this will increase the coming 2 years, but will there be more hero units awarded or captured units found?

And... appreciate this mod is still maintained here ;-). Im one of the (few?) that didnt make the switch from PC to PC2.

I'm part of that cohort, because there's still a ton of user-made content I want to explore and I haven't completed all of the official campaigns yet.

I have a question about the Versuchsjäger 3001: I noticed a steep decline in hard attack value when the option appears to have it upgraded to the Elite version, now called 12.8 Pak Sfl - from 32 to 25.
The name is a bit strange also, since "versuchsjäger" brings a list of German planes (jäger) of Flugzeugentwicklungsprojecte, instead of military vehicles.

--> Locarnus: Ultimately, it is the overall balance that determines whether a game works or not. A balanced weighting can be more helpful in this respect than historically realistic values. Especially as individual values can only ever be viewed in relation to one another. Naturally, massive distortions should be avoided. However, absolute accuracy cannot be achieved anyway. Take the different map scales, for example. In a Stalingrad scenario from the Grand Campaign, the specified range of aircraft looks very different to that on the Operation Blue map in the Standard Campaign. Yet it must work for both.
It’s lovely, though, that so many people with such varied tastes are putting together such diverse modifications here. In my three mods, I pay particular attention to extensively designed maps and unit names that are as historically accurate as possible (and, in the case of DAW, consistent). I assume that only a minority place much importance on precise unit names. The units might as well be called ‘Mickey Mouse’ and ‘Goofy’. But that’s the beauty of Panzer Corps – it caters to a wide range of preferences. So let’s enjoy the variety that the programme allows us.

--> Ptje63: It is true that the elite version of the ‘Versuchsjäger’ has a slightly lower Hard Attack rating. I took this bit from the AMULET section, and I think Messmann had a reason for it. In fact, there were only two prototypes of this particular type. In that respect, everything relating to mass production is purely fictional. As for the term ‘Jäger’, it is used in a variety of ways in the German language. Even in military contexts, it appears in different forms, such as ‘Panzerjäger’ (tank destroyer) or ‘Fallschirmjäger’ (paratrooper).
There isn’t actually a list of the (hero) units that are awarded over the course of the campaign. However, from the point you’ve reached so far, there aren’t many more special units to come. At ‘Riga’, a Brandenburg is made available; at ‘El Alamein’, a sniper; and halfway through the 4th campaign, there’s also a Type XXI submarine.
And I think there are quite a few players who have stuck with Panzer Corps 1 or have returned to it. After all, it does have a number of clear advantages. So you’re in good company.

From Saudi territory, the journey continues southwards into Yemen, to the far south-western corner of Arabia, home to the strategically important port of Aden, which was under British control at the time. This time, naval forces from both sides are also deployed. Due to the strait at the mouth of the Red Sea, sea minefields are also of some significance. In this ‘Yemen’ mission, the player achieves an MV by capturing all primary objectives, and a DV by additionally destroying two SAS training camps in the desert, which are constantly producing Arab sabotage units.

In the first image, you can see how I am mainly advancing auxiliary units eastwards into the desert region in a flanking manoeuvre (1). Somewhat unexpectedly, a larger British offensive force, parts of which are very strong, appears, advancing in the opposite direction (2). A skirmish ensues. As it quickly becomes apparent that my forces are unlikely to gain the upper hand in this area, I must try to buy time to bring in reinforcements. So I order a turn and run, run, run... (3).
One turn later, the situation came to a head. To cover the retreat, I had positioned my ‘Versuchsjäger 3001’ in the centre (4). Unfortunately, the unit was already running low on ammunition, which the enemy then exploited to the full. Several units pounced on the now defenceless unit, and finally an Achilles (5) appeared, which nearly destroyed my tank destroyer. Out of ammunition and pinned between two armoured enemy units, I now had to rescue the Versuchsjäger. Eliminating the British Grant would have been easier, but unfortunately a ‘Comet’, together with a ‘Churchill’, had broken through on the southern flank and had battered an Italian anti-tank gun (6). So I had to eliminate both the Grant and the Comet. Then it would be easier to concentrate on the Achilles. After all, I had the two heavy French AMX tanks at my disposal. By joining forces, I managed to free my Versuchsjäger from this deadly stranglehold and lead it to the rear. It survived the mission. In this engagement, during which further strong British forces were brought in (7), I lost a total of 5 Aux units (2 Panthers, 1 anti-tank gun, 1 anti-aircraft gun and an Italian reconnaissance vehicle).

On the south-western side, at the other end of the map, a few turns later. I have fought my way southwards along the Red Sea coastline and have reached the defensive zone around Aden and the minefields at the strait (8). As my small minesweeper has already taken heavy damage, I am using my submarines, aircraft and ground forces to fight my way through the extensive minefield. Near Aden, there are also two very nasty enemy units that can inflict heavy casualties. The anti-aircraft defences (9) have a total range of 5 squares and provide reliable protection for the entire area against air attacks, as does the artillery (10) against infantry attacks across open terrain. In addition, powerful warships—not visible on the map—are positioned immediately off the coast, providing artillery cover. However, an SE Tiger II is slowly but inexorably advancing southwards (11) with sufficient ammunition. It will eventually reach and destroy the anti-aircraft defences, triggering the collapse of the defences. A flanking attack on Schukra also appears promising (12). However, behind the town are two camouflaged British snipers who are preventing an infantry assault on the town.

Strategic map: The attack begins from the north-west (13). During a flanking manoeuvre to the east, I encounter a stronger contingent of British armoured forces, resulting in some casualties (14). Nevertheless, this clears the way to fulfil the additional DV condition (15). My main forces break through the strong British lines at Sana’ and Saba’ and capture both towns (16). Moving further south along the coast and through the valleys of the mountainous region, I eventually capture Aden (17). The strait is opened. With an airborne assault and a flanking attack, I capture Mukalla and subsequently Kishn (18). It was a fierce scenario with the highest losses suffered by the opposing side to date, but with sufficient time to complete the objectives.
