Re: Battle of the Frigidus 394
As i'm not a great friend of optional house rules, here is an alternate version, where the miracle of the bora is simulated by giving the western legions no rear rank LF bows. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10453114/Frigidus%20394%20FP-PWv1%20final.rar To compensate, the pagans have a light artillery unit...

Re: Decline and Fall without historic battles

Re: I feel like cheating
This is not going to happen - it would be like chess. The whole system only works because there is a chance of a unit which is down a POA wins. Take that away and you you win every fight you have a +POA. That would be extremely dull and very unrealistic. No-one (well, certainly not me) is advocatin...

Re: I feel like cheating
It would be so simple, give a fixed percentage of losses per hit inflicted and do without the silly second combat die
it's true that luck usually evens out in the end, but why cannot we have our "single combat" result reasonable?

Re: Battle of Adda 490 AD
The two previous Theodoric battles were first rate and instructive. Can't wait to play this one soon. I can't believe that after getting his arse beat twice Odoacer had stuff left to make a third and last stand. Then he signed a peace treaty (really a surrender) and Theodoric invited him to a sit-d...

Re: Battle of Verona 489 AD
An exciting battle with more than acceptable balance. In the game I played the Ostrogoths must roll the Barbarian's left flank before the latters' right creams the Ostro left. This is the final position marking the Ostrogoth victory. Once the Barbarian left collapsed, the Ostrogoths were in the pro...

Battle of Vézeronce 524 AD (FP)
This battle between Franks and Burgundians is a classic encounter of an army of good cavalry and weak infantry against an army with good infantry and (almost) no cavalry:

Battle of Verona 489 AD
The second battle in the "Theodoric against Odoacer" project, by frankpowerful and stockwellpete. Odoacer was entrenched between the walls of Verona and the river Adige, but his troops' morale was shaken and the Ostrogoths were able to beat him again. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10453114/Veron...
