Re: The ratings system
If you look at the rating leaderboard, all ratings (after the initial 1500 is subtracted) are divisible by 16. If the ELO works right, the only way this could have happened is if absolute all games have been played between players of exactly the same rating. I don't think this is the case so somethi...

Ok, ok, ok! I'll stop fighting these windmills
Most of the guys I've been playing seems like sensible and reasonable persons, so I guess there's no need to pursue this white whale anymore.

Re: Needs "Early Victory" ending
No, if one of the player feels this is lost cause, he's free to resign. And this really isn't a big deal for me, but it stroke me as suiting to have these kind of rules when you also have the rating, and to avoid "dead" games draging on forever. To counter the question; are there any parti...

Re: Needs "Early Victory" ending
Dudeabidez, i'm not disagreeing with you, and my point wasn't really to change the winning conditions. But at some point this game game can be lost to the germans, without any doubts, but it's still 5, 10 or even 15 rounds left. I guess everyone agrees that if the germans have minus 10 points when t...

Re: Needs "Early Victory" ending
After some games against real-life marshalls and generals of dubious political regimes, I've come to the realization that if ze germans after round 5 (when the Rasputsia sets in) have not accumulated enough points, they've lost. The one-point cities is of course vital, and absolutely necessary for w...

I think this is a very historically correct situation.
For june 1941 or january 1944, that is.

Yes, I'm aware of how ELO works.
What are those parameters? K=32, that's it?nkarp wrote:We use the correct methodology. There are a couple parameters that are different from the chess implementation, but it works the same way.

Just out of curiosity - can you bring forth the mathematics behind the rating used here?

Re: ELO-rating not adjusted when one player resignes
Btw, is this really Elo?
I just beat a guy, and he didn't lose any rating.
Edit: love the new game and the new flavour to the series

ELO-rating not adjusted when one player resignes
Well, the topic title should say it all.
I just played another player that resigned, an neither ratings were adjusted.

Jarling vs quasichaos 3-3
We both won as axis in to pretty straight forward games.

Jarling74 vs esparver73 6-0
I.e. Jarling74 win both as axis and as allies.
Once again, pictures are too large to get uploaded, but some effort might be put into it if needed.

Jarling74 vs Blackfire1929 6-0
i.e, Jarling74 wins as axis and as allies
Couldn't upload the pictures, but if that is necessary I will of course make an effort to get it done. Or maybe Blackfire1929 could just comfirm the results.

Those players I find it interesting to play with I add as friends, and then play doubleheader, i.e. one match each as the Axis. Another thing: Though it's not completly comparable, noone holds it against chess that the two sides is quite imbalanced ... I've matched against Jarling 74 on game centre...

I also volumteer for playtesting. Have been playing BotB more or less constantly since last christmas and feel I know what works and what doesn't. BTW: I have been playing a lot against thedudeabidez over the last months and I highly recommend him for playtesting. He is probably the best BotB-player...

Re: what to do against a German defensive line strategy?
Very nice.
The most important thing is to ensure that the germans have an incentive to (try to) move forward for most of the game, which of course was the goal, at least from the OKW point of view.
