ELO-rating not adjusted when one player resignes
ELO-rating not adjusted when one player resignes
Well, the topic title should say it all.
I just played another player that resigned, an neither ratings were adjusted.

Yeah, we've gotten some reports of ELO problems, and our devs are looking into it. Thanks for the report, though.

Btw, is this really Elo?
I just beat a guy, and he didn't lose any rating.
Edit: love the new game and the new flavour to the series

I'm not quite sure how it works. If you won on your turn, the other player's rating may not update until he sees the loss and it's counted against his score.

Yep -- Apple makes it deliberately difficult to modify someone else's score from your iPad. Imagine they are concerned about potential abuses.Peter_TSS wrote:I'm not quite sure how it works. We use the correct methodology. There are a couple parameters that are different from the chess implementation, but it works the same way.

Just out of curiosity - can you bring forth the mathematics behind the rating used here?

There's a good discussion atJarling wrote:Just out of curiosity - can you bring forth the mathematics behind the rating used here?

Yes, I'm aware of how ELO works.
What are those parameters? K=32, that's it?nkarp wrote:We use the correct methodology. There are a couple parameters that are different from the chess implementation, but it works the same way.

Hi there,
Same here, opponent resigned, and no change to my rating.
Cheers,
Henrik

So, all I need to do is resign the 2 games I'm losing?
(just kidding - I'd rather lose than quit)

Better do it quick before the bug fix gets out

Re: ELO-rating not adjusted when one player resignes
Two games finished so far and in both cases the other player resigned and my rating did not change. Can you let us know when this might be fixed as it is a bit frustrating. Not even sure why the other players resigned, as both games were short scenarios and they could easily have played them out. Hopefully people are not taking advantage of this bug.
Edit: is it possible people are resigning by accident ? It would be very easy to select the wrong button when you resume a game.

When you do fix it, I hope you will nonetheless allow "ratings neutral resigns" for the following two situations:
(1) On the very first turn before I have made any moves, because sometimes someone challenges me to a scenario I don't want to play, or situations happen like I end up with two automatched games started same side same scenario same player.
(2) When opponent hasn't moved in e.g. a week or some time limit, then I'd like to be able to remove the game from my active list without penalty.
