Armour doesn't matter at Impact. I'm assuming they are medium foot...Heavy Weapon is useless against mounted in Impact also.

So, against non-lancer mounted (in the open) you'll be - and they +. If they have Lance (or are Heavy Chariots) you'll be -- and they ++!

Great...I'd agree that it's certainly easier for me to use Drilled foot than Undrilled...;) given my experience.

So...of the second case, the light bulbs do overlap, the question marks do not...so the question marks can't contribute POA either (if that was a column of pike)...?

Ahh, thinking a bit more about Phil's statement...as long as my BG did not advance PAST the actual base of the enemy BG in contact with my other BG, it may fight as an overlap...if I've overshot that physical base, even if I'm in side edge to side edge contact...I can't count as an overlap.

For a base to fight as an overlap it must be in corner to corner or edge to edge contact with the overlapped base, or behind a base in such a postition (where it would fight/add POA if in frontal contact). You can't go past the enemy front fighting rank and count as overlap. (IIRC)

Sorry...yes, Stakes are portable defenses...Temporary Fortifications would be a 'next step' of a set of immobile but short term constructions. If you had time to build a Ditch and Line it with stakes, mounding the earth atop your side...that would be a Temporary Field Fortifications.

You count full bases if the rear rank is the 1st shooting rank so 3 bases shooting,one thought that struck me with this is when you lose a base which in a mixed group will almost certainly be a front rank base ,the rear rank base moves up,does that now become the 1st shooting rank ?
