Hi Guys

I have decided to start building a 25/28mm army (or two) and as I don't currently play I have the worry of how to base. I really want to keep my options open for a FoG nap game (it's still happening yes?)

I am planning on basing 4 figures of infantry on a 40mm x 40mm base and 2 cav figures ...

Which leads onto another question

why ?

is it because people already have(had) them based for DBA or the like - or that they are much cheaper - or ?

What is the most widely played scale in FoG ?

(Especially in tournaments)

I just grabbed 4 random figures in 15mm and 4 28mm figures and that's going to be a tight squeeze in the width

I am looking at my rule book (sorry newbie) and see that heavy foot has 4 models per base but is only 15/20mm deep while the other infantry is 20/30mm deep - is that right ?

If so can you tell me why ?

... and - I have no models yet but can you actually squeeze 4 models on the base ok ?

I now have my basic book and need to build 2 armies as my games will be mainly solo. I would prefer to use 28mm scale and if that's going to even remotely affordable I will need to have armies that have plastic troops available.

I did actually order the rulebook after all but assumed the standard book only had army lists for ancients ?

I live in Bulgaria now and the only wargaming at all (fantasy) is just over 200 miles away. Certainly no shops here or shows.

For sure it would have taken a lot longer to do it properly from a white undercoat rather than black.

I am no expert but I have also found that careful selection of colours can speed the process up to. if you can find some colours that react well to washes and glazes and you can find a premixed ...

I am prepared to go to 15mm if I can tick all the other boxes and a 4x3 board is sounding good.

The amount of figures is not a serious problem - how many 15mm figures would I need per side then for a 'starter army'
