Re: Fighting to front and rear
OK. Then in my example the archers would turn to face the rear attack and fight during the impact phase. Now when it comes to conforming for the melee phase would the middle rank of legionaries (who had been providing dice for the front rank's melee earlier) be free to either remain facing the way t...

Re: Fighting to front and rear
If you say so. But the language on page 55 seems pretty clear that the normal rules for turning are to be used.

Re: Fighting to front and rear
Is my FOG 3rd Edition out of date? My page 41 says, "When a mixed battle group turns its new front edge must...consist of the same base types as the old front edge." Page 55 says, "Bases contacted on a side or rear edge ... are immediately turned...using the normal rules for turning.....

Fighting to front and rear
A Roman BG comprised of two ranks of legionaries and a third rank of supporting archers is already fighting to its front and is then charged in the rear. It would normally turn to face with the old front rank becoming the new front rank but this is not possible as the existing front rank is already ...

"No BG can pass through a BG that already passed through it this phase." (p46). My LF have withdrawn behind my advancing HF. In his next Impact Phase my opponent charges my HF and breaks them in his Melee Phase. They rout and burst through my LF. My opponent's initial pursuit reaches my LF...

I have attempted to follow the suggestion to read the "Read Me' file first but my efforts to do so result in a "NOT FOUND" message.

Pikes
1. Is it really historical to force other types of shock troops to have to pass a CMT to avoid charging pikes? It seems like such a bad idea. 2. Should Burgundian Ordonnance pikemen who are rated as "Poor" really be rated as shock troops? What I have read seems to indicate they were reluct...

Armored with Pole Arms
I have a BG of armored heavy foot armed with pole arms. They are in melee with an enemy BG of armored heavy foot with defensive spears. Both BGs are steady. Each gets a "+" : one for pole arms and one for spears (which cancel each other). "Pole arm cancels one level or armour only.&qu...

Charging with disrupted archers
My opponent and I have medium foot bows firing at each other. Both have become disrupted. During my opponent's last turn I managed to fragment his archers and now wish to charge them. I have to pass a CMT in order to charge with disrupted non-shock troops and also to charge with non-shock troops who...

Re: Battle Wagons
Thank you Graham. Upon further review I see most opponents shoot at battle wagons with a "-" POA which offsets the fact they get no second rank shooting. Also I failed to note that battle wagons melee with two dice per front rank base width which offsets the fact they don't get a second ra...

Battle Wagons
I am about to enter first my game using Battle Wagons. I have a BG of 4 battle wagons arranged two by two in 2 columns side by side. It appears that if the BG is attacked from either side the wagons on the opposite side can not aid their comrades on the threatened side. They can not engage in overhe...

Re: Camps in Combat
Thanks, Phil. I presume such an intercept move can not enter the camp. Is shooting through the camp to enemy on the far side also prohibited?
Thanks for the help. Terry G.

Camps in Combat
My opponent has made a flank march and has a BG of Light Horse headed for my unfortified camp. I have hustled a BG of Bows toward my camp. The Bows and Light Horse are approaching the camp along my baseline from opposite sides. My Bows are close to the camp as my opponent moves his Light Horse near ...

Maneuvers with Welsh spearmen
I have a BG of Medium Foot, Undrilled, Unprotected Offensive Spears. I am advancing toward a BG of English Longbows and have a BG of my Skirmisher in front to absorb missal fire. 1. During a Maneuver Phase I fail a CMT. My Skirmishers are less than 4MU in front of me so I can not make a "full m...

Re: Unable to complete a route?
Page 99 - obstructions, 4th bullet, second section says routers halt 1 MU from any enemy BG or if already closer do not move at all. That would seem to complete the route. I agree is makes more sense to destroy the BG in these circumstances, but I don't see that in the RAW. Perhaps I am misreading t...

Unable to complete a route?
Page 99 says, "Battle groups that cannot complete a route by any of the above means are destroyed...." I can not think of a situation which is not covered in the text above this sentence that would bring this rule into play. What am I missing? What are possible circumstances where this rul...

Page 74 of ARMY LISTS BOOK 2 shows Superior "Nubian and Beha camel riders" as being worth 7 points per base. This should be 13 points. Apologies if this has been brought up before.
