Indians are a great quick army--I'm painting my Classical army next and plan on doing a version of the approach Ethan suggested.

Cheers,

Back after an absence and wanted to throw in my two taels on Empires of the Dragon. Very well done book. The longer write-ups for each list are great, love the historical details. I also like the larger book covering such a large span. Definitely a book for MF infantry. Also enjoy the elephant armie...

Each base is resolved seperately. As they are LF if a normal move +2 MU (i.e. 7MU in open) will get you clear, then you move clear. If you use this then you must get completely clear, you can't move other BGs out of the way as that is in the all other cases section. Bases that reach the pike are pl...

Re: Indian skin color

From all that I have read which is not much!!! But the lowest ranks where very dark skinned, almost black and the higher up the lighter the skin. Not sure on that, usually only Kshatrias (the 2nd highest caste) were allowed to fight back then. The lower castes usually had no right to bear arms. Ver...

The very image of a slow moving high-sided wooden vehicle pursuing anything is almost too amusing for words  But made it into many a Hollywood movie. Quite true, along with plentiful use of incendiary weaponry on the battlefield (such as the blazing logs rolled into the hapless legionairies in...

I think the mounted class represents the smaller actual number of elephants than foot and I don't believe they would be any better at breaching a fortified camp than any other mounted. Us 2 legged types are better suited for running up and over those earthworks than large slow pachyderms. My though...

The above collectively confirms a saying from our local club, "you can't fight the dice."

And sometimes the dice really fight you

It's an interesting question. I would say no, they should continue to be treated like mounted for breaking into a fortified camp. I am curious what the designers think :)

I agree with Dan, at least as far as saying that I like this book. I think that the army notes are pretty well done, on the whole. Perhaps the best yet. As far as variety goes, well, the European armies of the period were pretty similar, just as the Arab armies in S&S are pretty similar. There ...

I'd probably any of my gaming buddies a beer if they could even pull it off in a non-tourney game

"Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome" by Barker and also out of print but readily available is a useful resouce, as are the Osprey books on the Spanish and Celts. I've used all for painting "the help" in my LRR army :D
