Indians are a great quick army--I'm painting my Classical army next and plan on doing a version of the approach Ethan suggested.

Each base is resolved seperately. As they are LF if a normal move +2 MU (i.e. 7MU in open) will get you clear, then you move clear. From all that I have read which is not much!!! But the lowest ranks where very dark skinned, almost black and the higher up the lighter the skin. Not sure on that, usually only Kshatrias (the 2nd highest caste) were allowed to fight back then. The lower castes usually had no right to bear arms. Ver...

I think the mounted class represents the smaller actual number of elephants than foot and I don't believe they would be any better at breaching a fortified camp than any other mounted. Us 2 legged types are better suited for running up and over those earthworks than large slow pachyderms. My though...
