Re: Unit in spotting range not spotted. Bug?

Looks like not subs -- just had this happen in Poland. (Well, unless there are some *very* sneaky Polish subs around  )

Re: Stats, Stats and more damned lies.

Nice work! I found it intuitive to figure out what is going on. Can Grenadiere (I assume you're intentionally using the German plural) be upgraded to '43 HW? I guess you're putting the '42+ recon under infantry for space/layout reasons? Maybe switch the Wehrmacht Inf and Brueckenpioniere columns so ...

+3 init, but 50% of casualties fired back

I thought I understood the initiative system. With +3 relative initiative, I would have expected 75% of the casualties not to fire back. But this happened, so my understanding would appear flawed.

Q for Rudankort: roll separately for kill and suppress?

Rudankort, as you have probably seen in the thread on the Gustav rail gun, I remember seeing (I think) you indicate that units roll separately for kill and suppression. So a full normal strength unit with a 40% chance to kill and a 10% chance to suppress would first roll 10 times with 61-100 indicat...

Re: Really Liking the Gustav Rail Gun

I can't find hide nor hair of that post I was referring to. In theory it should be easy to find: I'm pretty sure it's posted by Rudankort and should contain the words "roll" and either "two" or "twice" (maybe "2"). Nada. I started looking through every Rudanko...

Suggest giving Ju 52 fuel stats

Ju 52's currently don't have a fuel stat, giving them unlimited range. This means that in scenarios where it's possible to achieve air supremacy, they can function as unlimited aerial scouts. They only have a spot of one, so this isn't exactly the key to mastering the game, but in the Norway scenari...

Re: Really Liking the Gustav Rail Gun

I think it could kill up to four units and also suppress an additional four units. Rudankort indicated in a post buried in history somewhere that units roll separately for kill and suppress chances, so it has four chances to kill a unit and four chances to suppress a unit. - Case edit: I found the s...

Re: Unit in spotting range not spotted. Bug?

It seems likely it's related to having Undo unchecked. That's my default option, but I suspect most people probably leave it checked, which would explain why this hasn't been flagged previously.

Re: Unit in spotting range not spotted. Bug?

I've been able to duplicate similar behavior in the Norway scenario. Unzip and load attached saved game. 1. Attack the sub immediately to the west of Bergen with the Bf-110 already above it. 2. Fly the Bf-110 four hexes south and one hex southeast so that it sits on the peninsula between Stavanger a...

Re: Some thoughts on replacements

I've seen opinions in this forum suggesting that at least putting air assets and artillery assets overstrength is worthwhile. I think that makes a lot of sense. You're more likely to get the benefits for longer since they're often not getting shot back at and the extra dice when attacking really add...

Re: Some thoughts on replacements

I'm guessing there's a significant difference in the optimal replacement policy in the DLC and the optimal replacement policy in vanilla. While I can't quite go whole hog and make every replacement elite, I'm convinced I don't have to go all green. Also, of course, FM puts a premium on experience si...

Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview

My votes for Manstein and Rommel are forward looking. Since I haven't beaten the game on FM, I haven't unlocked the advanced difficulties and all I've played so far is vanilla. In general, I find that the more challenging the game is, the longer it's fun to play.

Re: Panzer Corps Grand Finale: a DLC and an update!

I think adding dice chess is a fine option, but I vastly prefer the current level of randomness. Yes, strange things happen and sometimes that's really, really(!) disappointing -- also sometimes really (really!) excellent -- but that's part of what keeps the scenarios interesting. In chess mode, the...

Re: Unit in spotting range not spotted. Bug?

Yep, it's hard to fix a problem that isn't there (i.e. can't be reproduced). I'll keep an eye out and if it happens again see if I can find a reliable way to reproduce it.

Re: Unit in spotting range not spotted. Bug?

Nope, no mods. I did install the 1.13 patch immediately prior to playing this game, but this looked identical to the problem I've had in the Norway scenario with ships not showing up for aircraft for significant time (several seconds). I've gotten in the habit of moving a plane for spotting purposes...
