Need to re download...

As the title implies, I need to re-download the core game and the Legions Triumphant army pack. I bought both of these back in March of 2011. Recently I had a catastrophic failure of my PC and had to completely replace the system. Of course like a fool I did not have a hard copy back up of the game ...

Komnenian Byzantine archers....LF or MF?

Upon some reflection, I've decided that of all the FoG armies I've owned my Byzantines were the most effective. Like a fool I sold them a year ago (yes, yes, I know...) so I am in the process of painting up another Komnenian army. Now in it's last incarnation I built the archers in the list as MF. I...

My first 15mm Swedes...

With the release of FOG-R I'm in the process of building a 30 years War Swedish army. This is my first unit: the Yellow Brigade, obviously! This also marks the first time I've painted any 15s since I changed my painting style completely about six months ago. These are figures from Old Glory 1...

I must say I'm suprised (pleasantly mind you) at the number of superior stands you can field here. I'm asuming these are the Jaguar/Eagle/Chicken/whatever suit wearers, right?
Is there a distinct priest unit or are they gone like the Viking Beserkir?

Any Aztec armies yet?

I'm painting away as I (im)patentiently wait for the local game shop to stock "Blood and Gold". I want a teaser! Does anyone have an army they created using the new Aztec list to post yet?

I just played, and lost, against a Sassanid Persian army. Terrain rolls did not favor me and my opponent was able to screen off the majority of my Bushi while attacking the weak points of my army. Don't get me wrong, I made him work for it. But it was a loss none the less. In the last two games, my...

Early Achmeneid Persians. Two BG of Superior Arm MF Bow.
Ah.
I stand corrected then! For some reason I can't put my finger on, I've never been a fan of persian armies, so I missed that.

Well, actually you CAN get seperately deployed retainers. You have to buy 24 required mixed stands. But you can also get yari armed retainers (protected offensive spear either average or poor), seperate deployed cav, and a single seperate bow unit (the only armoured MF bow unit I've seen yet). Final...

My bad..

I run my Bushi in blocks of eight stands. The list I used is the late one...the one covering the Muramachi era.

So any tips on how to get the best out of the meso-american armies ? I'm planning on running my Aztecs like Gauls that can shoot! Wind them up, and let them go! of course that might lead to disaster in that they lack the mounted to keep their flanks secure while the warband does the work as you wou...

I painted up a Samurai army in preparation for the release of the new book. I finished it the week before the book got widespread release here in the US. I've played two games with my army so far and I like it. I've found that those large blocks of armoured, bow*, heavy weapon Bushi are pretty nice....

I'm pretty excited about this one too. I may have to crack out my old poorly painted Tin Soldier Aztecs and repaint/base them for FoG. As I stated in one of the Aztec threads in the army design forum a while back I have nothing but contempt for the Aztecs as a historical culture, but find them irris...

Samurai vs. Macedonians....

Daimyo Honda Togashi looked out over the field of battle. No one knew were this latest army of barbarians had come from, but here they were arayed in from on him none the less. Honda had chosen his battlefield quite well. His left flank was anchored by a pair of rice paddies, while on the right stoo...

Does anyone know of a use for medium foot with light spear only?
Guarding the camp perhaps? (just pray that nothing more substantial than skirmishers decides on a looting spree!)
Bulking up the break point of the army by adding to the BG count? (the reason most people buy mobs for example)

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Batesmotel, I thought about that as well when I saw the photos. It's actually hard to see the mounted figures in the middle of the mixed bases head on like that. They are old Tin Soldier miniatures so yes they are two dimentional poses and kind of flat as well. I'll ...

My 15mm Samurai...a sample.

Tennôheika Banzai! Ok, ok... That iconic Japanese war cry is probably not contemporary to the Muramachi era, but what the hell? I just put the finishing touches on my 15mm Japanese army for Field of Glory and had to show it off. "Empires of the Dragon" is not even out in the US yet, so I'...
