Cohesion and State

Hi all,

Need to clear up a debate from tonight.

A MF Offensive spear unit is disordered in a wood. Is it still steady?
I am saying it is as there is no drop in cohesion.
Am I correct?

Cheers

You may also want to take into account the chance that you want to give them rear support at some stage.
Harder to do if they are superior.
2 x 8 avg is my vote.

Detracting back to the original post. My initial thought regarding Syrian States is the fact its foot is not compulsory. Its LH contingent is strong and it contains lancer cav. Have you thought of dropping the spear making room for more LH? Something along the lines of 4 x TC 2 x 4 Cv Arm Sup Drille...

MF at least have the option to utilise terrain or retreat into it. HF are generally always stuck in the open.
This gives MF the edge IMHO.

Flank march must not have gone past the initial thought stage then Hammy.
Was an enjoyable game where our initial combats all went against the odds.
I'm seeing the Protected Cav Bow Sw as a tactically viable troop type now especially with the proposed changes in FoG 2.0.

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend. Especially to Steve for organising and running a sweet venue and competition.
Managed to go the whole weekend without playing a single kiwi so was great to play other opponants.

The foot could contract in a column and attempt to reach the enemy bg. Potentially ending in an overlap with side edge to side edge contact with the friendly mounted. Still contacting the enemy with corner to corner.

Take a mixed BG of MF Front HW, Back Bow.
Place the front bases in open, back bases in a forest.
No overhead shooting in a forest but the shooters are classed as front rank for shooting.
Is the back rank still classed as disordered for shooting purposes or classed as front rank still?

The Heavy Weapon negates the armour differences and shooting is somewhat negated by the IC and rear support. The cavalry are a problem in this list as it gives your opponent something to surround and cut down, unless you leave them with your foot in which case why not just use foot. Rather than 3x8 ...
