Paint stripper

I want to remove the paint from some 15mm figures and repaint them better. What should I use to remove the paint?

Soak in Pine Sol or even acetone and scrub vigorously.

(usual cautions apply)

Cheap nail varnish remover works for acrylics. Not toxic either.
