Re: A look at the new features of Order of Battle: Kriegsmarine
. . . As far as the stuff about individual gun targeting, not appropriate for a game at this scale. Rhetorical comment: Exactly what scale is this game? The game employs what Is sometime referred to as a “telescopic scale”, (mechanics at a small scale/tactical, but scenarios written at an operation...

Re: A look at the new features of Order of Battle: Kriegsmarine
I tend to agree with the idea of the concept of a stable firing solution. Where it falls apart is the concept that Closing the range does not greatly simplify the firing solution. Closing from 20,000 yards to 10000 yrs greatly simplifies things. It also totally ignores firing ships vrs target speed...

Re: A look at the new features of Order of Battle: Kriegsmar
Not too sure about the new mechanics. The "Firing Efficiency" concept is a bit absurd. Please site one, just one, naval engagement where one side maneuvered to maintain a constant range to target. Also increasing your speed does make your ship a harder target but it also decreases YOUR fi...

Re: Question about previous campaigns
If I understand correctly this is an editor issue? Should the Japanese fleet have a destination point set closer to the island's shores, more to the south of the map? Forgive me, I have absolutely no knowledge of editing the behavior of units on a map, I can only do simple things in the editor. Tha...

Re: Question about previous campaigns
Since, like most humans, I feel everyone is entitled to my opinion, I feel compelled to weigh in on the “crossing of the T” discussion. I disagree with the statement that crossing the T has been an outmoded tactic for several hundred years. I think the examples given of Tsushima and Surigao S...

Re: Question about previous campaigns
Do you guys remember the old naval battle mechanics? The defending vessel would return fire similar to air and land units. I miss this.... I had forgotten this, and I was just about to make a post suggesting this as a new mechanic for the game. I very very much would like to see this mechanic retur...

Re: Computer wargame from the commanders view point
Twenty or so years ago there was a napoleonic game (Waterloo IIRC). A very interesting concept, but the computers of the day and/or the programming wasn’t fully up to the task. I’d love to something like this. I usually refer to most FOW rules in computer games as “Borg” FOW, what one unit sees, all...

Re: regarding Victory conditions - (Moscow spoiler alert)
Thanks for the response. I actually did not intend this for the multiplayer sub forum, but rather for the regular oob discussion sub forum. Is there a way to move the thread to the more appropriate sub forum, I didn’t see anything regarding this in the FAQ lists. Of course the comments are apropos f...

regarding Victory conditions - (Moscow spoiler alert)
Has there been much discussion regarding randomizing primary victory, or secondary, conditions. I’ll illustrate with the Moscow scenario near the end of the Blitzkrieg campaign. Hence the spoiler alert. I like the fact that victory conditions can change mid scenario. It was an interesting shock when...

Re: update question
I’ve got nine DLCs currently, counting boot camp, I haven’t played them all yet. I’m saving several of the campaigns until I’m better and have time. The most fun you have with a campaign is the first time you run through it, for the obvious reasons; assuming you have the mechanics of the game reason...

Thanks for the info
Nice quick reply bru
I've just gotten back into OOB, bought OOB pacific when it first came out; I was impressed then, and I'm still impressed.

update question
I've downloaded and updated the latest version. I save the download file and double click and choose extract. I get a popup with several DLC choices and a "OOB WWII" choice which I pick and everything appears to work and when I start the game it has the correct version number listed and th...
