Get the 1.9.3 hotfix, it's fixed the issue for me so far.

Is a fix for the Japanese Infantry unit cards being looked at? Is this addressed by 1.9.3? I don't see any hotfix notes anywhere.

Don't take any of the Elite Objectives that award Japanese Infantry. Those are your culprits

I just realized, that there's an Elite Objective that awards more Japanese units in the next scenario. Same problem, but I can't clear these. So my campaign is stuck at Alaska for now, or I skip my Elite Objective. All evidence still points to Japanese infantry units being a problem

Yeah, you can see info about that in the changelog for invalid/mod units. This is not my issue as I do not run any.

Yep, and I guess I should further specify that if I try to upgrade a tank for example, the game is still able to progress to the upgrade/purchase screen, along with any other unit that isn't infantry.

In addition to regular unpassable crashes on my device (posted in the tech issues/bug section), I will confirm this issue is still happening for me (Ryzen 7 3800x, RTX 4090, 32GB RAM). Every time I mouse to a new unit, or new hex, I will see in the little unit selector that a random Japanese battles...
