Passing on prepared offensives

I submitted this as a bug but I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed it. If you are playing as the Germans in the full scenario, against the AI, then if the Soviets pass on two prepared offensives in a row, that turn will end. You will not get a chance to move or attack during that turn. Punishe...

Thoughts and opinions on the game?

We've had three months now to play with this game, so I was hoping to get the thoughts and opinions of everyone. I enjoy the game very much. The Moscow campaign scenario is a great way to spend an hour (or maybe 90 minutes, I lose track of time). The graphics are pretty (I wish I could make maps lik...

Re: AI unbeatable (at least in Moscow)?

I did some of the statistics for your situation, DDT. The chance of your 1 regular armour and 2 elite Axis armour units (each with 4 pips strength) getting a result of 2 hits or less (in other words, doing no damage to the Soviet unit) is about 3.2%. Flipping a coin 12 times and getting 2 heads or l...

Just had my best performance in the standalone Bagration scenario. First turn bought 2 Tiger II's, and 2 Fw 190D-9's. Utterly destroyed his air force (6 fighters, 2 tac bombers, 2 strat bombers) in about 4 or 5 turns (with my 4 fighters). In the end I managed to hold 3 cities but only 1 objective ci...

But to get to the point. It has been probably 13-14 years since I played Panzer General. I remember the basic strategy on how I managed to win at Bagration. You did not read my post. But that's OK. The main point is that Panzer Corps's Bagration is an entirely different beast from Panzer Gen...

I've won Bagration playing at both Colonel and General. You absolutely need Tiger IIs to stop the Russians. I placed 6 of them shoulder to shoulder from Vitebsk to Orsha and then spaced the rest of my tanks behind the Dnieper river. I always build a tank heavy force (the game is Panzer Corps after ...

A great series of games. Also World@War series. There hasn't been a planning-execution operational WWII game since. I guess these days gamers would complain that there are too few scenarios in each game. But the quality of the scenarios was top-notch, and the AI was designed for the scenarios so was...

Tried it again twice today. Bought 2 Fighters, 2 Jagdpanthers, 2 Infantry, 2 AA (88's). That's about all I could afford first turn. Second turn bought another Jagdpanther. I can control the skies pretty quickly. But forget the ground, I got slaughtered again. I decided to compare Panzer General's By...

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I will experiment some more. I love this scenario, and any late war scenarios where the Germans are up against it. If it's not challenging I will get bored. I just think scenario-wise there are a few tweaks I would make such as replacing half of the IS-2's wi...

Bloody Bagration

How in the world am I supposed to win the Bagration standalone scenario as the German side? I am facing 9 or 10 IS-2's, a handful of T-34's (most with the 85mm gun), plus a healthy air-force, and assorted units and all I have that is of much use is 1 Panther and 1 Jagdpanther! I guess a couple of fi...

I don't want more detail, or a more advanced simulation. I want:

1) Better strategic AI. I can live with the tactical AI, but the strategic AI needs to be improved.
2) A GUI that recognises that we live in an age of large wide-screen monitors.

Tip: For those with wide-screen displays

Here's a tip for those with wide-screen displays. I know that the nVidia driver supports two extra full-screen scaling modes: 1) Centered - the 1024x768 C:EaW graphics are not stretched but centered on the screen, with the empty space surrounding it filled in with black; 2) Aspect Ratio - the graphi...

No plans for a demo

Buried in another thread yesterday, Slitherine's iainmcneil wrote:
We dont have plans for a demo at this stage. Maybe we will release one after the dust settles, but it has yet to be decided.
Just thought I'd let people be aware of this situation.

AARs please

Slitherine people and beta-testers! Can some of you get together and please post some AARs (after-action reports)? Either here or on the Matrix forums. Better than marketing doublespeak, fanboy delusions, and sycophantic reviews, and almost as good as having the demo in our hands, AARs (with screens...

Does "not good" mean bad? Plenty of decent games have been written in Java.
