Re: Great Leaders in History
Thanks. Looking forward to it. Fortunately, I've got some earlier saves. This is a really excellent game and it's obvious that a lot of work went into it.

Great Leaders in History
So I decided to give the Normans a try on balanced. Managed to conquer England, hold onto Normandy, even took Brittany after it attacked me. Then I got two kings in a row who were bad administrators, followed by a depraved one. Watching my treasury disappear into "court expenses" and my army turn ...

Re: Epic battles not as good as DLC campaigns
I had assumed that the epic battles are intended to be more historical and the limited scope for maneuver is designed to prevent wide flanking attacks against the AI.

Re: Version 1.3.7 is out - The Rome I wanted!!!
I treat this as a sandbox of the ancient world and for that, it's the best I've found. A real simulation of several hundred years of the ancient world would be interminable and mind-numbing. Hats off to Pocus and the rest of his team for striking the balance between a sense of realism and ...

Re: Mongol and shooting !
If there is a rebalance for the sake of multiplayer, I hope that there is an option that reflects RBS' best judgment on relative capabilities on a tactical level. I'm currently listening to a series of lectures on the Mongols and there are reasons, some of them tactical, why they created one of the ...

Another vote for an updated P&S. But keep the option for similar graphics.

Re: Sad that nothing more will go into FOGE or FOG2
I seldom post on the internet, but I have to say that having had some experience in what could be termed project management on a limited budget, though thankfully without having to deal with The Public, I can't for the life of me understand why someone would choose to be a game designer. The ...

Re: Take client state regions in a war? (bug?)
OK, this isn't a big deal but it does seem a little odd to have the occupied status mali continue indefinitely in a 500 year game. After all, even the French (the Gallo-Romans, that is) seem eventually to have accommodated themselves to the Franks. Or for that matter, that an agreement signed ...

Re: Take client state regions in a war? (bug?)
Unless I'm missing something, there may be a bug in the "Occupied (War Control)" condition. I've held the Egyptian provinces for I don't know how many turns now and they're still in Occupied status. At the bottom it says "Duration: 1" but it never goes away. If the Occupied status went away, I ...

Re: Open Hand Video 'Tutorial' ~ DasTactic's Normans vs Richard Yorke's Scots
This is really one of the best series on Youtube to learn some of the nuances of the game. I'm not a serious enough player to know whether every detail is perfect, but having you and Richard discuss the pros and cons of almost every move and the interaction between the ZOC rules and the tactical ...

Re: Take client state regions in a war? (bug?)
Just found this thread. I don't think limiting peace deals to 12 regions works very well, especially when the provinces don't show up on the cede province menu. In my case, the previous owner is on the other side of the map and still owns 78 regions, so absorbing that faction will be a little ...

Re: A question about armies and historical tactics
Historical behavior in epic battles, custom battles or campaigns. The epic battles I've played seem to leave less room for maneuver. I'm just thinking about how best to have a more or less historical approach, rather than gaming the system. Also wondering how much Vegetius is the textbook ideal, and ...

A question about armies and historical tactics
Having played this for a while (single player only), I find myself almost always anchoring a refused flank on suitable terrain while making a wide flanking maneuver on the other flank. This, of course, is standard Vegetius right out of the game manual. One of the Youtubers I think mentioned that the ...

Re: Wolves campaign frustration
See this thread: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 92&t=92003. Not a perfect solution, but it works well enough until there's an option to restrict opponents in the sandbox campaign.
