Just wondering - what exactly do the medals that units collect do in game terms? The role of heroes is crystal clear, but I didn´t see anything in the manual about the effects of medals. So, what do they do? Open up hero slots?

I don't know if I missed this option or if it is simply not there but is it possible to (switch on) the actual time it currently is being displayed anywhere? I mean I small clock or just the current time in digital format in the menu part to the right hand of the screen? I have no clock imediatelly...
