Re: Players in south Portugal
Not near! There's one player living in Lagos, +80km away. The other one is in Vila Nova de Milfontes, some 120km from Faro. The next closest, and largest group is in Lisboa... And although FOG is no longer the more played rules system, no one will refuse a game! If you are interested, contact me at ...

Re: good and new ideas for a tournament
1- yes. BG's (1 or 2) are removed every turn starting with the 3rd. 2- The defender's army will be shrinking. So as soon as there more generals than BG's on-table, a general must also be withdrawn (Well, this rule is sort of cosmetic and meaningful for small armies only). For example: the defender s...

And the rules for the Withdrawal scenario (sorry, these posts are long...): Withdrawal Description: One of the armies is retreating but the enemy is very close. Victory Conditions: - The attacker wins if in any turn at the beginning of the impact phase it controls 1 Objective. Control means to be ZO...

Reconnaissance parties start skirmishing soon escalating as each side sends more troops to the combat. Re: good and new ideas for a tournament
In the line of introducing some variation in our games and generating (we hope) more interest, we will be holding a scenarios tournament in december ("appropriately" called «The Cataphract Reindeer»). The format will be a 3 round 650pts comp. Table size of 150x120. 1st round - scenario - E...

Re: Pre-set terrain
Our last tournament in october was run with pre-set terrain. You can peek here http://www.ajsportugal.org/ (but forget the ugly guys that appear in every picture!) It was a one day comp with 3 rounds of 650pts and table size of 150x120 (or 5'x4'). Time for each round was 2h30. In the end everybody l...

Re: Tournament Ideas
Using objectives on the table as win/lose conditions. Essentially that's a similar logic to that used in Flames of War and Napoleon at War. The games will end sooner with that additional break rule. Combined with other rules like smaller tables or pre-set terrain as discussed elsewhere, it might be ...

Re: FoG:AM v2 - improvement suggestions for electronic forma
It’s nice to hear that improvements are coming. When converting manual/paper processes to “computers”, there’s a common trap which is to duplicate that process into the machine. The result is a usually poorer (and expensive) solution. The trick is how to translate the computer/tablet caracteristics ...

Yes, the player numbers refere to inscriptions, not individual players. I also have the figures for average attendance. All broken down by country. As I am attending the ITC I'll try to post them tomorrow night.

Re: Ideas
It would be interesting to see a graph tracking the number of people playing FoG comps each quarter since the start. Whilst not all FoG players enter competitions, I think it is likely to show a decline in player numbers, probably increasing. Muz Not in graphic format but... Taken from the slitheri...

Re: Winners Atrittion
On the “keeping players” front here go a few more ideas: 1 day competitions format. Full weekend with 2 one day comps. Besides the usuals also allows for those that cannot or don’t want to spend the 2 days. Tigers problem: make two “themed” pools: the Tigers and the Joes. Competitive vs non-competit...

Re: Pre-set terrain
Much needed decent looking terrain and it is one step to shorten the game duration. The Spanish club of Sevilla used pre-set terrain a few years ago and it was well received. They had themed pools of 8 players. 5 tables were prepared for each pool: 1 light – steppes 1 heavy – mountain or hilly or fo...
