I believe you are thinking of FieldS Of Glory, which was a Napoleonic miniatures based computer wargame. I think I bought a copy myself for the PC.

I have never played (or even read) the original FoG rules. Would there be any advantage in purchasing a copy? Is there an assumption that a purchaser of the video game is conversant with the tabletop rules?
