"I think most people would feel that the huns and mongols have the advantage over heavy foot armies in an equal points game." Perhaps. I have only played around 20 games. Most of those have been in tournaments. I have tried several Arab variants, Ottoman Turks and Comnenan Byzantines with ...

Thank you for the AAR. These are always fun to read and yours is well done.

As to your point regarding shooting, I agree with you. Having faced heavy foot armies with no ability to concentrate fire sufficiently is no fun. Rather makes one wonder how the Mongols and Huns did so well.

Chargers/Evaders Question

If I understand the proposed change correctly, and I may well not, evaders in v 2.0 will run the risk of evading off board on all edges rather than the current baseline only method. This will surely make skirmishing more difficult, which I assume it is intended to do. What about the chargers though?...

In the interest of full disclosure, I have played no V.2 Beta games. Bagration has though struck a chord with my feelings regarding what I have read here regarding the proposed changes. I much prefer a mobile, slashing style of play to a straight ahead bash up. To each his own. Please though, don't ...

Charging Looters?

Some help please. Suppose a BG of light horse moves into contact with a fortified enemy camp in the maneuver phase. The LH fail to roll a 6. Now what? Since they are mounted in contact with (presumably) steady foot, do they have to break off? If not, do they remain in contact with the camp even if e...

I've read those pages. I can't see a definitive statement ruling out a "slide" to avoid friends. I can see in bullet number 1 on page 107 that a unit which contacts a friendly BG must halt. I can also see in bullet number 3 on the same page that a unit which would otherwise contact an UNfr...

I have achieved an effect I like for blued steel as follows:

mix a medium blue into a regular steel at roughly 1 part blue to 5 parts steel

paint the base coat in this mixture

black wash

add a small amout of silver to the blue/steel mixture and dry brush SPARINGLY over the blackwashed figure.
