Re: Patching ipad V65 to Version 1.11.

I decided to play the game to see if any of the v1.11 features were present, turns out I have the v1.11 game. It could have saved me quite a bit of frustration if V65 would show the version number somewhere on the opening screen.

Patching ipad V65 to Version 1.11.

I've installed V65 on my ipad, downloaded the 1.11 patch through DropBox, extracted the .zip file with WinZip, at which time I get: "Open file failed. Try to open with other apps" with an arrow pointing to a drop down menu. In this menu I can select mail, dropbox, or winzip, selecting any ...

Re: Vietnam'65 Update release date : 1 June 2015

Looks like an update that was much needed. I look forward to giving V65 a go, hopefully the game that occupies my spare time for a good while.

I havent seen such active support from a developer in quite some time, kudos to Vietnam65 and my thanks for all the efforts.

Re: AI Ambushing

Some pre game determined randomness of villiage intel reliabiliby, with a reliability "slider" that moves closer to the "more reliable" the longer the villiage is under US control, and vice versa for NVA control ? The more villiages that report the same intel, the more likely it ...

$10 Price tag

If V65 was $20, would it increase the production value of the game ? ....possible follow ons to the game maybe ? Hire some techie right out of school to enter code ? $10 sounds too cheap. IMO, computer gaming has to be THE cheapest entertainment "bang for the buck" there is. I think I figu...

Re: Vietnam '65 Major Update is Coming

Given this fact, V65 may have leant itself well to more of a focus on the Mekong delta, coastal areas, maybe some urban....terrain that has....well.....less hills then the Ia Drang. I do like that a technical limitation was realized, and instead of including some sort of hills that simply don't work...

Re: Vietnam '65 Major Update is Coming

As far as terrain goes, I don't see elevation changes being represented either on the map or game play. Where are the hills ?

Some sort of Hot LZ is a must in any Vietnam wargame.

Re: please confirm Friendly Fire

Ryujin, I like the idea of Arty/Air strikes having a chance of hitting the adjacent hex to the one targetted. For Arty, that chance could increase the longer the range. For Air, chance increase the worse the weather. Blowing up a villiage having a major impact on H&M. Would be a great way to wor...

Re: please confirm Friendly Fire

UI aside, I do hope there is the possibility of FF in the game somehow.

What is The Vietnam War without hearing, "HOLD YOUR FIRE !! HOLD YOUR FIRE !!" being shouted into a "Prick-10" radio hand set. In fact, that would make for a great voiceover when it happens.

Re: Top 5

Silent Sevice on casette.......awesome. :D Thanks for the walk down memory lane. A VERY valid point here being, it was the gameplay that we loved, our imaginations filled in the gaps and shortcomings of the graphics in those days. I recall being very entertained and engrossed in many of those early ...

Re: Top 5

That is SO refreshing to hear. I am looking to really giving the updated version of V65 a go, I will post my comments, for whatever they are worth. So far, I really like what I see with V65. I don't tire of good games, I still wish I had my Apple IIe so that I could play Geopolitique 1990 again,.......

Top 5

I am 45 years old and have been a wargamer for 30 years. In that time my priorities have changed when it comes to what I look for in a wargame. Here is my Top 5 list in order of importance: 1 - Playability. There is always a tradeoff between Realism and Playability. I tend to look for games that lea...

Re: AI Ambushing

I appreciate that the Realism/Playability slider leans more towards playability, I agree with this approach. ....but In this instance, I think that both realism and playability are achieved by it being a pretty rare event that a supply helicopter would receive significant damage in an ambush along i...

Re: Vietnam'65 Update / Patch

I like the ZOC shading idea, but only if its very subtle. As for FOG, in a 'traditional' wargame, yes, I like FOG. I like wargames where recon is very important. However, with VN65, I think the whole game should be based on FOG, that's what the Vietnam war was, nothing but FOG, so I don't feel that ...

Re: Detecting enemy spawn points

I can see where trying to locate and eliminate a spawn point would be a fun (and realistic) part of the game. Im glad to see that NVA and VC are modelled differently.

Re: The UI

I do hope that there is consideration for the UI to take full advantage of iOS. BotB and DoM are brilliant in this regard. I can only hope VN65 follows suit.
