Detached Shot and Regimental Guns

Post by CYRANOINLONDON »

I just want to check if I have this right.

3 units each of 2 pike, 4 shot and a reg gun. I detach the shot from all 3 groups and end up with 2 units of 6 shot and 1 unit of 6 pike and 3 reg guns. I think this is correct on the basis that the reg guns stay with the 'parent' unit bases - ie the pike rather than migrating with the shot.

Does seem a bit strange as I now have a 6 base pike unit that gets 3 shots per turn at both long and short range.

Sound right?

Thanks

I believe as the Reg Gun is a marker(rather than a shooting base), the combined pike unit still just has a 'single' RG marker... hence just 1 dice shooting

That's what RBS said here http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 88#p380288

Yes, you only need to place 1 regimental Gun marker with the pikes. However, Regimental Guns add to shooting, rather than shooting in their own right (P35). You will see on P106 that they don't have a range listed. So if the Regimental Guns end up with an all Pike BG they don't actually shoot, and the only benefit they confer is an extra dice at Impact.

So the moral of the story is that if you are thinking of detaching the shot from your 6 pack don't buy it a regimental gun; it'll waste points.

That is pretty much the moral to remember alright. Think of what else you could buy with all those points...
