Routing in v2

Post by richafricanus »

Unit X routs but reaches friends Y who it cannot interpenetrate or avoid. It's full rout move distance is to the other side of Y but there is another friend Z in the way. What happens to X? Stop this side of Y? Burst through Y and Z?

Because X are routers and there is insufficient room to place them beyond Y due to the presence of Z, they are destroyed and removed from the table. p 8-14.

I thought it said it somewhere so that's how we played it, but I couldn't for the life of me find it. Thanks. I wonder why, if the destroyed unit is evading (not routing), friendly troops don't test for seeing it lost?

Note that Y in this case would still count as burst through and would drop 1 cohesion level before X is destroyed.

Do you have a V2 page reference for this?
I am not sure this is the case.

P 8-14 (PC version): "Move the evading or routing battle group to the full extent of its move. If its move does not completely clear all friends, it is placed beyond any battle group(s) it is currently bursting through if there is room for it beyond, otherwise it is destroyed and removed from the table."

So the friends count as burst through even though the routing BG is removed.
