She was supposed to distract the opposition but obviously to distract Mr Ruddock I should have brought a ladyboy !!

Rob
You do know now, the Lords of the Dice will draw you against Mr R in the first round.... :)
I think Rob is referring to Mr Jeffrey-Cook. After all he's got no chance against me :P

Although it would be good fun to see Halifax going down like cheap t***ts again.

I'd like it to be Known that Halifax B(including me) did manage to get higher than Halifax A (rob)last year :) :)

I think a top three (in no order) of

MAWS
Hogs
Pinner

Is favourite

Halifax A for the wooden spoon :)

Nice to see that our team captain has faith - the team bunny and I are a lot less confident ...

The team bunny came 16th out of 18 in the Northern League and was stuffed by a Halifax A team!

Amateur. Did that ages ago. I also looked at the rankings, put each player's ranking in and added them all up to give seeded team positions.

Code: Select all

Pinner
Milton Keynes
MAWS A
Hampshire Hogs
Impalers
Halifax A
Oxford
Alumwell
MAWS B
Seal Pup
Warlords
Mercenaries
Little Bo Peep's Mates
Wha'hae
Burton
CR&P
Derby

France are a complete unknown obviously.

Pool results as follows:

Wayne Dare Peter Dalby Richard Collins
Nik Sharpe Harrison Pearce Bob Amey
Robert Taylor David Fairhurst Nik Gaukroger
David Redhead Ian Mackay Peter Butler
Richard Jeffrey-Cook Dino Monticoli Robert Greenwood
Andy Ellis James Hamilton Leslie Mitchell
Darrell Pearce Paul Brandon Lance Flint
Dave Morrison Graham Wilmott Lynda Fairhurst
Bob Medcraft Dave Saunders Simon LeRay Meyer
Simon Clarke Stephen Clark Andy McKay
Gordon Jamieson Steve Royle Ade Ball
Matthew Poole Peter Card Paul Freeman

John Muir Kevin Ellis Eric Doman
Clive Holland Marc Lunn Nigel Philips
Graham Roberts Peter Gregory Tony Parkin
Eric Lajus Frédéric Dufour Herve Ramonet
You could always do the same with the ELO rankings.

It was a slow day at work.

Underestimate Frederic at your peril - no way will he be last in Pool 2

Those are the seedings based on rankings - I don't have Frederic's ranking as he doesn't have a UK one- hence all the French players are simply at the bottom. I did point this out saying "The French players are a complete unknown obviously".

However, I did happen to notice that Frederic lies second in the French ELO rankings, so should be a bit handy.

Hammy lucked out again ;)

Not enough pointless stats yet - so, based on the rankings, which pool is the hardest?

Ah well it looks like a hot day in hell ( or is that two days) for my Norse Irish with a poor army choice and a lowly ranked player like myself to boot.

Look, they may be pointless to you, but any stat that shows Hammy ranked below Dino, Ian Mackay, Harrison and David Fairhurst has got to be worth quite a lot.

I have only actually got the full bonafide rankings at work, so that will have to wait. But I would take an educated guess at pool 1. Darrell Pearce I think is ranked nineteen (although still behind Harrison obviously), and is eighth in the period, so that is a fairly strong standard, with eight of the eighteen in the top twenty.

Two of the bigger hitters are missing in Ian Stewart and Dave Handley of course.

There are also those who have a _false_ ranking in that they haven't attended the requisite number of tournaments. Usually Hammy would claim he is one of these, but there have been grumblings of unrest coming from Liverpool of late...... In fact, Hammy only thinks he will score 80 points this weekend. Which is a significant downturn over the last two years.

Says the man who finished 2nd at Britcon with it in 2009. You're fooling nobody jocko

I, on the other hand, am clearly over rated in that list as I haven't played since the Challenge, and that was FoG:R. It should be a close race between Hammy and myself for position of team bunny this year 8)

I have been contacted by George Dick expressing an interest in playing at the weekend. Unfortunately I can't accomodate him at this late stage, but if anyone is struggling or knows anyone who has a problem for the weekend please get in touch.

Cheers

Marc

BTW - my kids did the draw last night - some interesting matchups!

Tease

Publish it - with a caveat that it'll be redone if there are no-shows. Could generate some amusing posts - Dave R will definitely pontuificate ...

Sorry guys, I'm not releasing the draw until Saturday - I don't want my opponent turing up late on purpose just to avoid the caning I will hand out!

May continue to tease though
