Announcement - Derby Teams 2011 FOG

Post by hannibal »

Hi all,

I have just sent the final details for the Derby teams competition to the organisers for posting on the website. Brief details:

3 Pools as before, teams enter 1 in each pool
Pool #1 Alexandrian & successors 850pts. Specified range of lists from ROR and IF 355 to 30 BC
Pool #2 Early Byzantine Theme 900pts. Specified range of lists, mainly from D&F 493 to 962 AD
Pool #3 W Europe Early Feudal 800pts. Specified range of lists mainly from WFTS and OOF 1000 to 1149 AD

Pools more tightly themed than last year to ensure different flavours, but still with plenty of choice (23, 27 & 29 lists in each pool). Allies don't have to be one of the specified lists.

If anyone wants to see the full details please PM me on here or drop me an e-mail & I will forward

Looking forwards to another well-attended and keenly-fought comp! (oh, and I've dropped the 8:30 start on Sunday  !)

Cheers

Indeed - Ruddock and I will need time to decide which army we allow the team bunny (Hammy) to play this year ...

Hi Edward,

You can get to Derby from Birmingham by train very easily - the station that serves the airport is "Birminham International" - you will need to get a short transfer to "Birmingham New Street" and then there are regular trains direct to Derby from here. Total journey time is probably just over an hour.

The University is located on the Derby ring road. I think it would be better for you to stay in the city centre and travel to the University. There is a regular bus service from Derby city centre to the university - either the "Allestree Red" or the "Allestree Blue" that run from the bus station & take 10 minutes. Timetables on this link:

http://www.derbysbus.info/times/tt_local.htm

Or you could just get a taxi. You might like to consider this hotel, where you should be able to get a low rate if you book in advance - it's close to the train and bus stations

Hope this is helpful!

Best regards
