FOGR Sunday events at Oxford 2023
All,
Here are some ideas for next year. May we discuss please when we meet on 18 December.
Idea 1 - a bit radical
We each have 2600 army points, any list or from a particular campaign such as ECW. In any one event we can use any number up to 750 and once used they are gone.
Bonuses are scored in each round as follows
Winning 25-0 with smaller numbers, at least by 10%, bonus of 15
Winning less than 25-0 with smaller numbers, at least by 10%, bonus of 10
Drawing as above , bonus of 5
There are also bonuses for first and second place in each event,
First event 10 and 5
Second event 15 and 10
Third event 20 and 15
Fourth event 30 and 20
All these bonuses are carried forward to the next event to amass an overall score to win the campaign at year end. Perhaps bonuses could also be traded in to reacquire some used up army points?
One of the rounds could be 25mm
Ideas 2 events are separate as now
Theme by dates in narrow bands but spread over the period 1500 to 1699
Theme by conflict, including ECW
Theme by weapon system
Open competitions but with a handicapping system according to player standing this year
We could offer two 25mm comps, perhaps by increasing the number of events to 5.
Any views @nyone? Bring your ideas.

Re: FOGR Sunday events at Oxford 2023
Dear all,
here are ideas for next year following discussions with everyone who was at the 18th December event.
1. a new twist for the new year, we shall total scores over the whole year so that as well as a winner for each event we get a victor ludorum (from amongst those present at the fianl event of the year I guess).
2. Themes suggested were - any final views and/or tweaks?
Europe to 1599 - 15mm
Europe 1600 to 1650 - 15mm
Not Europe and not Japan any date - 15mm
Open - 25mm
3. Dates in the OWS diary are as follows - any views on which themes might go on which dates?
12th March,
11th June
10th September
17th December
Please all remember to look at the Forum as I shall use that mainly, hoping always to pull new people in.
