2 things I just learned playing SCW (again)
Somethings I learned that may be helpful to someone else.
1) If you take denied air force - it applies to your Italian allies as well
2) You can take Gibraltar with a split stack & still claim the cache. The other half can be used in the main battle

3) if take industrial connection you get prototypes for italian too, but you lose the prototypes at the end of the scw

Re: 2 things I just learned playing SCW (again)
4) Using a lot of recons (planes and cars) helps a lot as long as you got inexperienced units
5) You can splitup your artillery to get rid of enemy entrenchment faster
6)Its often helpful to order your allies "Hold Position" until you established a proper frontline with protection and support and let those lemmings engange again

This also helps if you play with the no-move-through-fog-of-war trait—splitting the unit in two and embarking separately gets you to the Rock twice as fast.
Re: 2 things I just learned playing SCW (again)
This is also a good idea when using the "capture" to reduce casualties so you capture more.
Often times, hitting it twice with weaker units not only reduces entrenchment, it will produce less kills and more suppression, so the capture haul is better
Learned that from The Edmon

Re: 2 things I just learned playing SCW (again)
Hello there, sorry for occupying this thread but its not completly offtopic
I started playing SCW David vs Goliath, what is tough but very nice! Every single move is important, or you might just lose half of your army in one turn
My point is next scenario is Toledo and I dont think I can achieve both secondary objectives. That results in not having enough commendations points for the Verdeja in Early Madrid. I wasted some points for trubia tanks, and to be honest I dont want to replay the mission again to make it undone.
So my questions is, is there a cheat meanwhile for commendation points? I think it will just need one.
Or second questions, if I cheat me more turns in Toledo, is there any negativ effect?
I promised myself I will never cheat again in this campaign. Tbh I never did so far in this game.

Well, the only negative effect is probably that you wont get acms with a cheated playthrough. But, if i remember correct, you can change the advanced settings between the missions ? so u might just "turn off" the turn limit for this mission, play it, and turn it on. I dont think (never tried to change diff during a pt) that counts as "cheating" considering the acms.DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 7:49 am So my questions is, is there a cheat meanwhile for commendation points? Well, I could also turn off David vs Goliath for one misison. My plan is to play as intended but have a Plan B, if I fail
But playing without turn limit for once seems to be fair. I am also afraid the dude in toledo might die in David vs. Goliath

Same, but if i fail, i dont use a plan b, i call the playthrough when i reach the point on that my army is in no shape to continue fightingDefiantXYX wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 9:40 am Well, I could also turn off David vs Goliath for one misison. Re: 2 things I just learned playing SCW (again)
Well, toledo was harder than I thought. I think it is impossible to save the artillery dude, the city gets overrun after 2-3 turns, I was not even close to help.
So I had to cheat and give him more HP. Finally I was 2 turns short, to reach all objectives.
In my opinion David vs Goliath does not really work when you are heavily relying on allied units. They just get wiped out.

Yes, the fact that the challenges and neg traits are quite unbalanced is an issue. The only solution is to change them between the maps (im pretty sure thats possible, though i never do this). Its ok to miss bonus objectives after adding more spice to a playthrough via traits/challenges but some maps are impossible to win with some challenges/combinations.DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 6:19 am In my opinion David vs Goliath does not really work when you are heavily relying on allied units.
@OP
7) Aux-force is outside of the power 4 combination the strongest trait you can pick in SCW. You can mob the enemy with cheap italian units.

Yes, it is. I had to do this for example in 1942 in the air only scenarios. The allies are just too stupid.
True. I picked industrial connection, what is almost useless. Either you get italian prototypes or units you like stuka you cant use, because you simply dont have the core slots.7) Aux-force is outside of the power 4 combination the strongest trait you can pick in SCW. Almost done with SCW on David vs Goliath.
Well, it was very hard. Some optionals are just not possible, escpecially when its not relaying only on you. There are 2 or 3 maps where you have to save a spanish leader, but they are too stupid to be safed.
I had to restart the map "Ebro River". I underestimated the enemy, and I had to choose a way more passive strategy.
An interesting thing the enemy seems to be more aggressive on any map. Hes not waiting for you most of the time.
In the last madrid scenario the fighting AIs kill each other a lot faster.
Another thing I have learnt. But way more units than you need. I overall lost 1-2 tanks, 2-3 recons and a few planes and its very annoying when you have to start with green units. So as soon as my units reach the experience limit I put them in reserve and get some new units.

Yes the AI is indeed more agressive. David vs Goliath combined with a high randomness setting means that is way way harder to build up a defense that forces the AI into a stalemate.DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 1:09 pm

The AI wont attack if there is no chance to get at least 1 kill in most situations, but with Manstein on, its easier for the ai to achive that minimum kill.
If you turn "slow reaction" on, the ai turns into a berserker on speed

but slow reacdtion is unfun to play you need tons of protective units i.e 15cm guns or tons of prestige.
