But Sergio, you tried this on Jim Gibson* in Faenza and it didn't work... indeed I have a picture of him grabbing the
bottle of wine from your hands in his eagerness to participate in your experiment :D

Regards,
Peter
* Although Jim is Scots, I hasten to add; Italians tend to use "english" collectively.

Peter you are right,
but Jin didn't drink a lot of wine (Steve more ............... so I hope to play against him in Rome)

In any case the match with Jim has been very nice and also tactical ........... a lot of Elephants against my CT's.

Even if I have been very unlike in two combats: 1 BG of LF not broke quickly of a flank charge of my CT's and a Jim fragmented BG of CT's didnt' break against my steady Ct'
................... in Rome if we will go to dinner with some english players I will offer them a lot of Italian strong red wine

Grappa does seem to scare them though Sergio. Perhaps I should bring that bottle of home-made grappa with me...

Doesn't scare me. Bring it on. Even if you have moved to Italy, you are still a soft Southern Jessie :)

In fact the main problem I have is that I WILL drink anything put in front of me. At Dublin I had to make Nik move that flipping Cough Medicine the Finns had put everywhere before I drank all that, which would have ended badly I suspect.

All I ask is that you keep up. I can't promise what state I will be in, but I will keep drinking :)

Because I am sad and have nothing better to do, I looked at a copy of the world rankings and where possible plugged in the rankings. The results came out as follows:

Code: Select all

Player Army Country Ranking (world)

Dave Ruddock Skythian GB 10

Jean-Yves Cassas Sassanid Persian Fr 75
Tim Porter Dominate Roman GB 666

This should just about conclusively prove that combined rankings don't work :)

Whenever I tried to get Tim Porters Ranking it just returned 666. How strange. Only one Dominate Roman - I am presuming it is the 19 BG Monster.

Good spread of armies - six armies picked twice being the most popular vote. Haven't bothered to break it down by book...

Also there are three Dave's and 2 Andrea. But no Popular surname. So no interbreeding amongst wargamers, or just no breeding. :(

I'm surprised to see that I'm the only one who appreciated the symmetry of taking the Carthaginians to Rome...

That probably means you are going to get stopped at customs and not allowed in.

You will then be able to wander around the countryside heading towards the Med sampling all the local hospitality :)

Are there FoG-groupes in Italy? How come we don't have any up here? What are we doing wrong?
