Is there any alternative to the proposed payment by bank transfer?

This is stupidly expensive from the UK - over £20 last time I checked.

Any chance of payment by Paypal? I'd happily pay the fee on top. Failing that I'd rather send cash!

Dave Allen

Hi Dave,

I'll pass your message on and see what they say. Although £20 is a bit steep, who do you bank with!? :)

I think for all of us it is a choice between Rome and Washington. Those of us with taste chose Rome :)

Also, I know there are only 3 of us (so far) but is there any guarantee of not playing other GB players, at least until Sunday?

As I have not been able to make it to Washington, Rome is now my next 'if I can get a job' target. If I do get a job in the next couple of months I will aim to be there but I am not sure what I will end up playing.

I didn't put anything in the tournament rules about this. Usually, as you know, it's the first two
rounds, not sure how this convention arose. Certainly as there isn't a preponderate number of players
from one country, except perhaps Italy, a national meeting is much less likely. And I'm sure the Italian
players would rather be playing non-Italians.

I don't regard your request as unreasonable. Does anyone else attending have a view on this?

Regards,
Peter

And there was me thinking that like the boy Porter you thought all the good players were going to the worlds so you'd sneak off and try and bag a cup
