Blast they seem to have found A RARE BERRY grown only in patches of bramble less than 2cm high on the clay soil under a disused hovel in mid-march, which has negated the effects of our plague ridden rags...curses !

It was a battle of two halves, (a bit like many All Black games!)

The Minamoto moto’d to their left and put flight to many a Taira wearing ji-samurai and follower of fashion. A little like a Mina-tour of the enemy right with mixed metaphors flying as they dodged showers of insulting remarks about Mina-skirting the field to avoid the centre and far left (or was it just arrows?).

The Minamoto right, having recently learned to walk backwards and hoping to slow the enemy down, attempted to amuse the Taira left with our Bunraku theatre troupe using excerpts from quite saucy Ninjō-banashi.
But bored with the music and monotone chanting, the Taira rushed for the now tired Minamoto left.

Our theatre troupe and supporters seeing this eager rush jumped into action and surged forward only to trip over their fancy baggy pants. These hapless performers quickly fell victim to Taira cavalry and followers when they turned to face the new threat. Undoubtedly, a trick, as many were distracted by stopping to pick up the hastily shed Taira’s.

Meanwhile, concealed Taira in the central woods emerged to confront many of the now depleted Minamoto left as they attempted to form a new front. Moreover, some rogue Taira cavalry having fell on groups of pursuers turned on the Minamoto rear just to make sure.

Unfortunately, now Brian has Minamoto fancy pants to go with his Taira…
