The point is being able to field 50% more command points worth of units. It's extremely powerful, but it comes at the costs of experience for your core and time spent maneuvering all the extra units. I usually wound up trying to ensure the auxiliaries were only used for encirclement and such, but they got attacked a lot anyway and I felt like they were siphoning valuable combat experience away from the units I cared about.

If you're playing with settings that you're not sure you can handle, this trait is probably the single most likely one to turn the tide.

Oh, I misunderstood. Sorry!

I don't have the game in front of me right now, but there is a way to designate whether a new unit purchase is for your core or for the auxiliary force. I can't remember exactly what it is, and I do remember spending a few seconds having to puzzle it out - it didn't seem obvious to me the first time I did it - but there is a way to do it. Hopefully somebody who knows better will reply soon, but if not I can look it up at the end of my work day.

I can answer that!
In my exepriance there are 2 ways to buy Auxillary German Units.

Option 1: Make sure your Core is full. If you buy a German Unit while your Core Slots are completely filled but you have Auxillary Slots available, it is purchased as an Auxillary instead of a Core.

Option 2: In the shop, find the units you want to buy as Auxillaries and Add them to the Basket. Once the entry is made in your shopping Basket, there will be a little circle next to the units name with a ^ type symbol in it. Click on that and the ^ will dissappear (or reappear if clicked again) this indicates if you are buying the unit as a Core (with the ^) or Auxillary (without).
