The Russian cavalry attempted to take on the flanks of the Byzantine cavalry but suffered badly when they were caught evading. Meanwhile the Russian infantry advanced and attempted to bring the Byzantine centre to battle. The Byzantines chased the Russian left flank cavalry to the top left corner whilst the majority of the Byzantine cavalry headed south, pursued by the Russians. The Russians broke into two with some Byzantines heading for each of the bottom corners. When caught by the Russians, the infantry numbers told, but several units escaped. It became a battle of the corners, with the Byzantines winning the top left, and, thanks to their light troops, the bottom right, whilst the Russians had some success in the bottom left.
Night fell before the Byzantines could bring their spread out troops back to take on the Russians. Two Byzantine Calvary hiding in the woods refused to collapse despite being attacked by multiple infantry. A few Byzantines managed to get back to hit these infantry in the rear and cause them to break, only to be attacked themselves by more infantry. A close game with an interesting end.
Thanks for the game Garokan.
