Rivers, coasts and lakes
Has any one really tried these and if so were they effective in supporting your tactics? Or were theye just pretty features on the table?
Of the numerous AAR I've read I can't recall any that make mention of water features. Has the lack of naval bases (err... elements) meant no one is trying them?
I'm wondering if they might be quite useful in taking up terrain picks for a largely HF army with few or no LF & MF.

Against shooty cavalry they are most desirable but you can't place them if you don't have initiative, which, of course, you are not likey to get against a mounted army.Andy1972 wrote:They are useful against the shooty type armies.. Narrowing the battle field so my army can get to them easier.

I have placed a max sized lake during playtesting and it fell in my opponents middle....
Exactly where I wanted it in order to make him choose which side to deploy on.
My hope was both sides in order for me to be able to deal with his army piecemeal...
....He rolled a 6 and removed it.
Madcam.

I find coast and impassable (ie, lake) to be most useful for my LRR - in particular the impassable which I always take, it makes for a beautiful hinge for an army that is always in danger of being outflanked due to its excruciatingly expensive and ridiculously ineffective heavy foot.
