Decisive Victory with 6520 ending Prestige
This is the best way to do this map to minimize damage and maximize total destruction as I was not sure if I was going to pull it off, but was able to take it all, and even received all bonus units.

I have already finished Demyansk Pocket as well as Vitebsk, I even have started Kharkov 42, but I need to slow down so I can catch up with these AAR’s with 7070 to prepare with.
I hope to type up Demyansk hopefully to be done by Wednesday.

Decisive Victory with 7340 ending Prestige
Surprised by that last minute push by the enemy from the opposite side, but at least finished with the needed Decisive.

Next will be the layout of my 1942 army and my thoughts on where I will go and what I will do with various units based on start of Simferopol, which I was able to do that crucial 1st day with much success.
Not going to get anytime to play this weekend due to Thanksgiving weekend, and will be away from home until late Saturday, and will probably concentrate on busting through some mp, before I jump back into Simferopol.

Super Hard Army importing into 1942
I have some new thoughts based on my position now in Simferopol and in preparation for Stalingrad Battles
51 units total (I had 80 in Manstein and 67 in Field Marshall)
7890 in prestige (This is a lot, lot less than what I had on any other playthrough and something I am realizing will be a huge hindrance going into the latter years, my hope now as to end 42 with at least 15k, but may have to settle with 10k.)


9 Infantry: 9 Heroes
(My plan building them up in 42 is to get all of them besides Helmut Wirnsberger and +1 Att Gebirgsjäger to 3 stars experience and/or 2 heroes by the time I hit Stalingrad, I would still like a Kradschutzen, but am still waiting for a possible +1 Spotting 2nd Hero, thoughts?)
2 Regular Inf’s both with 2 stars experience and with +3 Att heroes.
(Still waiting on 2nd heroes for these 2 to make possible upgrades.)

2 Fallschimjaeger Oleh Dir with 3 stars and 1 with 2 Stars and now has 2 heroes +3 Att/+1 Initiative.

5 Gebirgsjäger
2 with 1 Stars experience Helmut Wirnsberger and +1 Att Hero
3 with 2 Stars 1 with +1 Movement, 1 with +2 Def, other with +3 Att Hero.
Plan for Infantry in 1942 is to build them up to 3 Stars and/or 2 Heroes, once 1 or the other happens will save those units for Stalingrad, if they all achieve at least one of those factors will build for both achievements.

(I have kept him back in first 2 battles, but brought him out for a finisher in Simferopol. Still hoping to get him to a 3rd Star of experience or 2nd hero before I need to decide whether or not to upgrade him. 3 AT’s 1 Hero
1 5cm Pak with 2 stars of experience. (Still using, but is extremely hard to work with based on extreme vulnerability and extreme lack of mobility, as he is now a 7.5cm PaK which packs a nice punch on some units, but usually requires suppression 1st, this cost many of my planes in Kharkov 42 costly overstrength to provide needed suppression and diminishing the overall strength of a unit before I tapped them with this PaK)
2 Panzerjaeger’s both with 2 stars. (I used these enough to get +1 Movement and 2 stars on both, and will be starting 1942 with green StuG3F, which I am still working to get to his 1st Star, but should have that in time for their first upgrade 3F/8.)

10 artys (8 Heroes)
2 3 Star 10.5cm arty 1 with +1 Att that is used sparingly, 1 with +1 Range that I still haven’t decided on an upgrade for.
(Thoughts?)
2 +2 Att 3 star 17cm Arty. (These 2 guns are my big dogs used in every battle. 1 of which received a blessed +1 Movement that has come in handy time and time again, +1 Movement has to be the best hero any unit can get except for planes)
2 2 Star Sturmpanzer’s 1 with +2 Att still hoping to get good 1st and 2nd hero for these units that I am holding onto until the sIG38(t)M comes, it will be a long wait and these units are super vulnerable.
2 3 Star StuG3B’s 1 with +2 Def and the other with +3 Def (Love these guys and their aggressive posture thanks to their Defensive capabilities)
2 15cm Nebelwerfer’s 1 with 2 Stars that is waiting for an upgrade based on the 1st hero, if he gets a +? Defensive Hero I may consider upgrading him to a Wurfrahmen as it would be in tree upgrade. Thoughts? The Other is a 3 Star +3 Attack Powerhouse that is getting a 20 cm Upgrade and going to be my soft boy shredder.

1 8.8cm +2 Movement 3 Stars (These are so awesome, I will be using all throughout this entire Campaign only sidelining once and a great while)

At the new upgrade in 4 overstrength for the enemy I am finding myself replaying various days to set up units differently based on enemy counter attack as it is extremely painful watching counter attacks unless I prepare. This may be considered savescumming but I see no other alternative when playing at this difficulty level, I am not sure I will be able to get the Decisive Victory’s I initially thought would be possible, but I will try, and tamping down expectation in 43 and onward. I plan on adding reform units in 43 and once I start losing units and scenarios plan on just keep plowing forward and will document downfall, I do not plan on finishing Berlin Successfully and not even sure I will be able to make it there but may save the start of Campaigns to try at less hard levels as 3 overstrength seems doable but beyond that is getting impossible.

When I played on Ultimate I had to construct then memorize every unit's action and hex placement for the first five or six turns. I'd "solve" each turn one by one then finally restarting when I had it down. Not recommended unless you like doing that like me and and have a good memory.

On Manstein I do that as well but only for the first one or two turns.

I also wasn't shy about marginal victories. I even took a loss which I regret however.

Decisive Victory with 7561 ending Prestige
Destroyed it all and took over the whole map with mostly minimal losses. Good scenario.

I looked and prestige is the same going into Sevastopol Siege and Sevastopol Assault, neither one was I awarded an SE unit going into it.
Sevastopol Siege is the easiest so I already did that one and I will simply call that the +3 Defensive Scenario, as I was awarded 3 of those heroes for 3 of my units.
Sevastopol Assault has spoilers in my other posting about this playthrough and the new difficulty level thread.
I will detail Sevastopol Siege first with starting prestige is 8311.

Decisive Victory with 7701 ending Prestige
This was a last minute finish for success as I had to use a lot of creativity to pull off that final days push, and this almost cost me my 2nd Recon, but it didn’t and secured the Decisive Victory.
This is a very tough battle and one that I do not recommend trying to tackle on this level or on Manstein.
I know the Sevastopol Assault does not have you using the Big Guns for support, but is a lot less damaging to your units.

I am continuing with the Sevastopol Siege playthrough based on the 3 +3 Def heroes awarded and the less chewed up units which will save me a ton of prestige, as well as I was awarded an SE Pz4D on the Sevastopol Siege so next will be Voronezh starting prestige is 8278.
