Decisive Victory with 125 ending Prestige
This is insane on Manstein I got a Marginal Victory and still had 1195 so even though I am playing at 25% prestige, I am ending up garnering like 10% of what I normally would. I am not sure why? This is super hard and I was able to take everything except the central airfield and that defensive area.
Not a single unit has even close to 1 star of experience.
The greatest is one of my artillery units with 65, 1 of my Infantry has 37, 1 of the Bomber’s has 58, the Fighter 41, the recon 34, and 1 Pz1A 34.
Every point counts and damage was incurred. Rough stuff.
Next Danzig Corridor where I was awarded an SE Gebirsjaeger with a Truck, and 25 additional prestige for the Decisive Victory. I checked Marginal gets only 12.

Next Lodz with 280 prestige. NUTS! Not enough to buy a Fighter Bomber, I wanted one so bad.
So many options…please give me some advice on what to do with this limited prestige.
I have several thoughts on what I could spend it on, like 1 more 10.5cm arty with a truck, or just keep using the units I have, including Recon Rudel, and simply save up for desired Fighter Bomber for Piatek next, or should I save up for 88 in Piatek?
So many options my head is spinning.

I wouldn't buy any fighter bombers at all. I think for this run you might want to plan ahead the units that you want to have later in the game, and only go for that. How many fighter bombers are you using on Manstein in 44? -> Why buy them now if you'll put them in the dumps later. I'd go for either the arty, or another fighter. Upgrading to 1B also seems a waste of prestige, Because you'll be doing an out of tree update later anyways, so you might as well go to pz3/4 immediately when you have the points.
Doing 25% alone seems doable enough, even with 25% experience, the added enemy strength however will prove interesting indeed.
In 44/45 you'll be doing basically the same you are doing now, only with 10% or less of the prestige that you have now. Good luck.

Lodz Starting with 280 Prestige after replacements 231 (I wanted to not lose all of that exp on my Pz1B, but man is it costly) and after upgrades 155:

Upgraded 1 7.5cm arty to a 10.5cm and upgraded other 1Pz1a to 1B.

The plan is to take minor force North to seize few weakly held cities with an artillery, an infantry and my airforce.
The rest of the group is going to help save auxiliary recon force and have them back away to overwhelm the enemy and press forward around the Fort Lodz.

Decisive Victory with 417 ending Prestige
This weekend I will give Kampinoska Forest a chance as well as Minsk 44 on my Manstein playthrough. (Hopefully)
I was awarded an SE Infantry and I am starting with 442 prestige.
The plan is to sell SE infantry and truck and use prestige to buy 88 and truck as well as keep all units with 1 star of experience to maintain that experience.
This is so different from how I have played this 39 Campaign ever, used to say always give regular replacements in early war, but now that I am playing at Double Field Marshall Double Rommel, I need that experience when I get it.
My hope is to take my time and use my 88 and 3.7cm pak to get most train kills and hopefully much needed experience.
By the end of Kampinoska hoping that I have enough to buy 1 or 2 Strat Bombers, or 1 Strat and 1 new artillery. (Not sure which and would love to hear your thoughts)

I normally have 8 artillery’s at this point, but now only have 4.

I am not sure how to value experience versus prestige with both of them being so limited. I plan to wait with my second strategic bombers for the Ju88. That saves some money. The trains won't give much exp anayways, so I am not convinced of the usage of AT and AA in the forest

Next Modlin with 409 prestige.
I looked at this, this morning and realize selling Fighter and buying all desired items would make it impossible to get replacement Fighter for Warsaw, so despite my wishes, I am going to get the following.
Sell the Fighter. Use mostly regular replacements except for 3.7cm Pak which is extremely close to a star.
Buy a Henkel.
Upgrade both 7.5 arty’s to 10.5cm arty’s.
This is it, and will go for the Marginal Victory because watching the people who went for the Decisive on the various playthroughs I have watched is just too much for me to try at this level. I think it could be done, but at what cost. So, my goal is to get almost all units to a full star, by slowly using units that do not have a star for attacks after the artillery has fully suppressed as no need to take any damage at all on this map, this way I only build up experience and kills.

Hoping for more good 1st heroes, and may replay if awarded lousy first heroes, not replay battles, but the entire scenario. I guess it will depend on the spread of heroes if any are awarded.

Modlin Super Hard 2nd Try…redid scenario as I took more damage than I intended to sustain as going for Marginal Victory to minimize my losses and increase my kills


The plan is to get Marginal Victory and most units at 1 Star of Experience and at least 410 in prestige for 2nd Fighter needed in Warsaw.

Decisive Victory with 499 ending Prestige
Next Spoils of War with 674 prestige. Was able to destroy everything except 1 Strongpoint and 1 Infantry and I was able to seize everything, so very lucrative scenario.
My thinking is to buy 3 new units for Spoils, 1 recon, 1 new arty, 1 new 3.7cm Pak.
Spoils can be a little tricky and I probably should not be bringing new units in on this map, but I want to build up more forces for the long haul, and I am really hoping to utilize recons differently than I have in the past so I can create traps and surround, suppress, surrender more readily. My greatest concern is my use of 3.7cm Pak’s they are very, very fragile, but also very cheap, so hopefully I can have 2 of them at least at 1 star. Experienced Anti-tanks are so important in later war years.

Let me know your thoughts as will not be playing Spoils until this weekend.
(I am currently attempting Bastogne Assault Blind on Guderian and it is not going well. I am busy working myself up to Bastogne itself but just had their counter attack come and seize a couple of my unoccupied Main Objectives, so I believe I will need to fight out once I have routed out the Defenders of Bastogne.)

Decisive Victory with 622 ending Prestige
Next Oslo with 809 prestige, and I was also awarded an SE Gebirsjaeger in Half Track that I will be selling in order to get SE Tanks.
Spoils was not as hard as I was expecting, my green Fighter was chewed up pretty bad, but so what.
The biggest thing was to have arty backing up your units and that Rugged Defense against that KV-2.

Here are my thoughts for all of Norway.
Use almost entirely new units to get as many up to at least 1 star of experience before I step up difficulty level in France.
This means over the next few scenarios to purchase at least 3 new Gebirsjaeger, 1 new Panzerjaeger, 1 new recon, 1 new Sturmpanzer 1, 1 new Henkel, and probably 1 more new 10.5cm arty and maybe a new Fighter?

Very limited army build up as compared to other playthroughs but at this point my thoughts are as many units as possible to get up to 1 star by end of 39, 2 stars and 1 hero by the end of 40, 3 stars and 1 or 2 heroes by the end of 41. After that I will reevaluate.
(I am still in Bastogne Assault Blind on Guderian. I fully expect to now lose this match as the forces arrayed against me are way too many and coming on way to strong. I spread out my forces wrong and it has not gone well for me. It is never fun to lose, but will help increase the desire to replay this Campaign.)

Does anyone know if you still get the Steam Achievement if you take the losing path in 45 West?

Super Hard Army importing into 1940
33 units total (I had 46 in Manstein and 43 in Field Marshall)
506 in prestige (This is just crazy small, but it is what I have)

8 Infantry: (I see myself buying 1 to 3 more to help round out the force I am working with, especially at least 1 Fallschimjaeger and maybe 2 more based on heroes awarded.)
2 regular Inf both with 1 star experience.
6 Gerbisjager’s 3 with 0 Stars experience and 3 with 1 star only Oleh Dir has a hero.
It is hard to build up infantry and I see myself happy if I can get any of them to 2 stars and will use them to get at least 2 stars and 1 hero in 1940.

3 Tanks
1 Pz 38(t)a that is Albert Kerscher that I will eventually upgrade to Pz4 once I have enough prestige.
2 Pz1B’s with 1 stars of experience (1 has Iron Cross 2nd Class, the other does not, the one that does not will become a Pz4D to help kill soft units and hopefully get a good 1st hero.)
My goal is to use capturable tanks to round out my tank army, but mostly selling any that get a lousy 1st hero as there are so many tanks I will be awarded as SE’s and captured throughout the playthrough.

2 Recon
2 stars experience. The other has no stars. I will try to use these to help complete surround, suppress, surrender and hope to keep them around to continue doing this for years to come.

2 AT’s
1 3.7cm Pak with 1 star of experience.
1 Panzerjaeger with 0 stars.
I will work strictly with these, and see myself buying 1 more Panzerjaeger to help build up some AT’s for future use.

8 artys
All have towed artillery have 2 stars of experience 2 Sturmpanzers with 1 star, 1 Polish Arty, 5 other 10.5cm artys. (1 with +1 Att hero)
(I will buy 1 more Sturmpanzer eventually and probably 1 more 10.5cm at some point, unless I get some awesome 1st heroes that make new seem ludicrous.)

1 AA
1 8.8cm Flak with 1 Star, I see myself buying 1 more towed, and 2 Mobile AA’s to help chew up enemy airforce before I attack with my limited planes.

3 Fighters
2 with 1 star and 1 with no stars. These are the limit for my Fighter purchases as I will be awarded with various heroed fighters that I will use to help round out my air defense and attack.

4 Tac Bombers
1 Recon Rudel with 1 star just saving to get Uber.
1 +3 Att 1 star JU-87B
Helmut Lent Bf-110C 1 Star
1 Green Bf-110C with 0 stars
I may buy 1 more Junkers to help rain death, but may just stay with these.

2 Strat Bombers
2 Henkels 1 with 2 stars of Experience other with 0 Stars. (This is it)

I plan on using these as my core and will be buying 10-12 more units in 1940, but expect focus to be on building up what I already have hoping I can get to 2 stars.

I was awarded an SE Pz3F at start of Eben Emael with 506 in prestige. This is anemic, that I hope to build up stronger amount for future replacements.
My hope is to have just under 5000 by the end of 1940, but will settle for 2500, we shall see.

My thoughts I have been contemplating around my study of Eben Emael.
Place 88 Flak and either 3.7cm Pak or Panzerjaeger up buy Eben Emael. (Thoughts about 3.7cm Pak is that I can attack while they are without ammo and build up kills and possibly get 1st hero or maybe even 2nd star, Panzerjaeger thoughts are that it would be a chance to build up experience since it is at 70’s for experience if I pay for their replacements.)
Buy 1 Fallschimjaeger to drop and help around those forts, or hold back 1 slot to place one artillery in one of those deployment areas that once I move a unit I will be able to place in. (Not sure which to do, so thoughts would be appreciated)
7 units in the air is a given to help solidify the control of the air as well as prevent the fort from reloading.
4 other artillery around primary deployment.
Pz4d, SE Pz3F, SE Gebirsjaeger, 2nd Recon 8 Rad (want to use this to rush map and prevent them from reloading more units).

3 more units
Trying to decide between Pz1B to hopefully get 1st hero, Oleh Dir to help secure areas needed in the South, what about 2 green Gebirsjaeger’s or any of my regular infantry including 1 with a truck that would allow me to move quicker.

Thoughts about last 3 units would be appreciated and any of the questions about possible deployments.

I am playing with double Rommel double FM but my progressively Manstein takes the form of adding strength of 0 in '39 and '40 then adding the last digit of the year from then on. Thus 11 strength in '41, 12 strength in '42. I believe I will crash and burn by the end of '42 due to prestige starvation.


As I play nikivd's OOBs, there are some slight differences in gameplay. I use Kradschutzen rather than Recon units. I refuse to play with Sturmpanzers as they belong in the realm of fantasy as no such units existed in the German army at that time. I have been forcing myself to learn how to employ Falschirmjaegers whenever they can be of use.


My starting forces for 1940 consist of 32 units with 1421 prestige.


11 infantry : 3 Fsg, 6 Gebirgs, 2 Krads

4 Armor 1 Pz38, 1Pz III, 2 PzIV(one of which is an SE)
2AT Pzjgr
6 Art all 105s
1AA the trusty 88 with 1 star.
3 ftrs, 2 with two stars
3 Tac Rudel plus 2 110cs I do not like to play with the Jus until the R or D models come along.

That is an amzing force in comparison to mine, nice amount of prestige...have you been able to accumulate that because you keep getting awarded SE units and selling them?
I am considering doing that even after I get my 3rd tank, but unsure if I will need to.
Nice force, I use Sturmpanzer as need that extra protection.

I think Fallschimjaeger's are just too vulnerable for my difficulty level, but maybe nice to have 1 or 2 for some of the missions with Forts/Strongpoints

Did you have any heroes, other than the ones given you by the game?
I am surprised I have not received more heroes, but I am doing more Force Surrenders than straight up kills.

I would say the forces are about the same in point value except I do have better armor right now. I have been lucky getting SE units which are promptly sold off when not armor. I have tried desperately to keep my casualties low as the prestige accumulations are so pitiful. Seldom take more than one or two damage on my units. I admit I also had to take a marginal victory(my only one ) at Modlin. I have an attack hero on one SE tank and a movement hero on one Gebirgs. That is it so far.
Do you think it possible to go beyond 1942 playing with these handicaps? I see no way I can afford to upgrade to the better PzIVs and FW190 to name just two otherwise very necessary unit types. Guess we will see.
