It's 9.3 now but all is good so far. I've noticed that Japanese air deployment zones changed and you don't have the bottom edge entrances anymore. Also some additional appeared on the left edge. I assume these are the same airfields, just shifted a bit?

The Japanese now may deploy air units on the various airstrips, but there's an air command point limit so not all air units may be deployed.
In addition there are exit/reentry locations along the edges.

BTW, I forgot to change Japanese commander factions in the last update. I'll continue play without them.
Fixed in 9.4

Well, in this scenario deployment takes me about an hour :D
Edited. Nah, scratch that, thinking how to deploy takes me about 45 minutes and then it's a 15 minutes deployment. I say let's restart for 9.4 so my autism is satisfied.

Smooth sailing so far.
We can only talk balance, but it's best to wait with that after scenario is over.
One thing I can say for sure (now) is that Yamato needs way bigger escort with this amount of US battleships present.

One thing that would balance our game is me getting all the Japanese air and kamikaze reinforcements :D
The US fighters would have to support the bombers and also fly CAP over the carriers.

Yep, the Yamato expedition was doomed. Historically the force never made it to Okinawa, so it is a bit of what-if to give the Japanese player half a chance to sink a carrier (in combination with my missing air units).

Almost 60 Japanese air units; fighters, bombers and kamikaze units.

Ok, that's a lot. I don't know if there is a point in continuing scenario without them.

Yeah, let's try it again on a next build some other time. Only thing I like more than competition is fair competition. And cupcakes.
I'll think about some other scenario we can do in future ;-)

Good.
As you know, I prefer to play one of my own creations as this gives me an opportunity to fix/improve stuff.
See you on the battlefield.
