REQUEST: (pretty conservative mostly)
Hellenistic:
I) Macedon:
Hystophoroi: Slight Retexture and Rename to Companion Cavalry
Armoured Cavalary : Remove from early macedonian Army , Considerable Retexturing and Renaming in Late macedonian Period
Same for Veteran Armoured Cavalry
Add: Agrianes light infantry (discutable what should they represent)
Retexture and rename "warband" (every kind) to : "Galatians" and "triballi" (2 separate units of very similar quality)
Retexture (slightly) and Rename Pike and Veteran Pikes to their unique names (matter of debate, potentially too many regional units, period might carry different naming)
Add:Thessalian (heavy) or Thracian (light/medium) cavalry
Add: "Agema" Cavalry, slightly better companion cavalry
Seleucid::
Remove Armoured and Veteran armoured cavalry
Rename Pike to "chalkaspides" and veteran pike to "argyraspides"
Remove all kinds of Warbands , rename and retexture them to : " Galatian mercenaries" or "Galatians"
Rename Hystophoroi to "companions " or "hetairoi"
regional/local units, just a few like Carian light infantry or something
Egypt:
Phalanx Retexturing,renaming
regional/local units
Spanish Tribes:
Retexture and Rename :" noble" and "armoured noble" cavalry to make them look like unique unit from iberian peninsula
add: caetrati light/medium infantry
Carthage: "rename light cav" to "numidian" light cav
Rename African spearmen to Lybian spearmen (optional)
Remove Armoured/vet armoured cavalry. replace it with Carthaginian noble cavalry or citizen cavalry
Rename and split : " numidian or iberian" light javelin to "numidian" and "iberian" light javelins
Gauls,Germans,Britons,spanish:
Add unique names to warbands (in english)
Galatians:
Unique name for warband : " gallatian warband " or anything really
(saw in a mod "galatian rhigosages" , not sure what that means
Dacians:
Unique name for their warbands
General:
add: Tarantine Cavalry
this is mostly retexturing, renaming job for the major factions (others would be really only mere copies of these factions, excluding eastern and nomads)
feel free to share your opinion why should or should not these changes take place (note: not are they necessary or not, but are they better representing factions for us nerds or not)
list is not final, but thats the core
Unit Modding Suggestions:
Re: Unit Modding Suggestions:
Hi lapdog666,
It seems yous have good vision of units historical nams
Could you please post here a little synthetic table with all ancien war units names, with a short mention
sample :
Agyraspide : élite royal Pikemen - Greeks
welkophoroi : welk cavalry
etc etc
It will be very usefull for modding work in the game : I am not specialist of the ancien time and a list of names units with short explanation in each case would be very good
All what you ask may be made without difficulty (exc ept for retexture graphs), but the pb is to know what is what : if "ancient specialists" help modders, we will obtain good results

Re: Unit Modding Suggestions:
That was in my Apollonia scenario, it is the word Polybios uses to describe the Galatian troops serving Antiochus III. As far as I know, no one really knows what it means.lapdog666 wrote:

cant wait to see all those units.
someone answered in my other thread http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 77&t=80156
that it is possible to add units into custom battles, like a mod. could you do that instead of having 1 - 10 different scenarios?
Re: Unit Modding Suggestions:
That is exactly what I am making. A custom campaign module, that with a very minor tweak will be a skirmish module too.

Re: Unit Modding Suggestions:
Yes, good that some modders know (Ancient times specialists). But it's better if all modders have informations (all modders are not Ancient times specialists)lapdog666 wrote: i ll try to do it, but it seems people already know what they need to do
